The Gathering - pilot
The movie-length pilot begins by introducing the main characters, including telepath Lyta Alexander, who returns in Season 3. Ambassador Delenn looks much more alien in her original (Mr. Punch) make-up than in later episodes. Security is at a high level, everyone wants to know what the Vorlon ambassador looks like and there is an infiltrator aboard. Sinclair is late arriving at the docking port where Ambassador Kosh will arrive; and Kosh ends up in MedLab, dying of poison.
Delenn turns nasty when G'Kar mentions the Grey Council (of which she is a member). Lyta is talked into scanning Kosh and she sees Sinclair greeting the Vorlon. And there is no record of the lift malfunction which delayed Sinclair. Varner, the infiltrator, is found dead and someone who looks exactly like Lyta tries to kill Kosh. Then 3 Vorlon cruisers emerge through the jump-gate; they want to take Sinclair back to their homeworld for trial.
The intruder is found to be wearing a chameleon net and he turns out to be a Minbari, who blows himself up. Kosh recovers, Delenn apologizes to Sinclair and she is evasive when he asks her why the assassin told him that he has 'a hole in his mind'. And in the end, Babylon 5 opens for business.

01 Midnight on the Firing Line
The Centauri colony on Ragesh 3 is destroyed. Lt. Cmdr. Susan Ivanova, the new second in command, tells Cmdr. Sinclair there's a problem. Sinclair calls a meeting of the Council to discuss help for the colonists. Then a trading ship is attacked near the station. Talia Winters, the new station telepath, checks in with Ivanova. Ambassador Molari receives a message saying Narn ships attacked the colony so he rushes off to confront Ambassador G'Kar.
Molari is outraged when his government decides to do nothing. G'Kar is outraged when Sinclair condems the sneak attack. The Earth Alliance tells Sinclair not to get involved. Then Molair's nephew is forced to broadcast a message saying the colonists invited the Narns to recover a world stolen from them by the Centauri.
Sinclair sees off the raiders. Molari plots to kill G'Kar but Talia Winters sees what is in his mind and warns Mr. Garibaldi, the head of security. Ivanova tells Winters that she dislikes telepaths automatically because her mother was one and she was driven to suicide by the Psi Corps. Finally, President Santiago is re-elected on Earth and Ivanova arrives at Sinclair's quarters with another problem.

02 Soul Hunter
While waiting for the arrival of Dr. Stephen Franklin, the new medical chief of staff, a damaged ship comes through the jump gate and Sinclair to grapple it to prevent it from hitting the station. Delenn recommends killing the pilot as he is a "Soul Hunter"; an immortal who steals the soul from people at the moment of death. The soul hunter captures a dying gamblers soul then tells Dr. Franklin and Sinclair that they learn from the souls of important people. Sinclair remains sceptical.
Delenn wants to free the collection of souls which the hunter has brought with him. He says that would be killing them and he recognizes Delenn as a Minbari who helped to stop a soul hunter taking the soul of a Minbari leader. The soul hunter escapes from MedLab and returns to his ship to tell his collection of souls that he knows now why he was drawn to Babylon 5.
Another soul hunter arrives with a warning that the first soul hunter is a deranged killer. Meanwhile, the first soul hunter wants to harvest Delenn to wipe out his previous failure with the Minbari leader. Sinclair saves Delenn and the soul hunter is captured by his own 'soul-draining' machine! The episode tells Sinclair that Delenn is a member of the Grey Council, which leaves him wondering why someone so important is posing as an ambassador. And at the end, Delenn frees the collection of trapped souls.

03 Born to the Purple
Londo Molari is captivated by Adira Tyree, a Centauri exotic dancer, and shirks getting involved in negotiations with the Narn. Garibaldi is worried about unauthorized use of the Gold communication channels. Adira is a slave and she's under orders to get the "Purple Files" from Molari; dirt on the Centauri noble families. Garibaldi finds that someone in the Russian Consortium is his Gold abuser.
Adira uses a mind probe to get access to Molari's files. Molair makes Vir Cotto, his assistant, a full diplomat with negotiating rights and goes looking for Adira. Her slave master, Trakis, tells him that Adira has double-crossed both of them. Molari turns to Sinclair for help with the slave master listening in on a bug. Garibaldi finds that Ivanova has been using the Gold channel to talk to her dying father.
G'Kar is recruited into a scheme to recover the Purple Files. And at the end, Molari tells Adira that Sinclair has persuaded Trakis to free her. He presents her with a family heirloom to wear as a free woman but she chooses not to stay with him on Babylon 5.

04 Infection
An ISN reporter arrives to cover the 2nd anniversary of Babylon 5's opening. Dr. Hendricks, Dr. Franklin's old professor, arrives at MedLab to offer him an adventure. Hendricks' assistant, Nelson Drake, kills a customs officer to bring contraband aboard the station and take it to MedLab. Hendricks explains that he found some Ikarran artefacts while working for IPX (Interplanetery Expeditions). Franklin finds that they are organic technology. Hendricks wants his help to study the artefacts and promises they'll end up in the history books.
Nelson is zapped by an energy surge from one of the artefacts and begins to undergo a metamorphosis. Sinclair is still ducking an interview with the ISN reporter. She gives Garibaldi a hard time. Sinclair confronts Hendricks after Nelson shoots Dr. Franklin (not fatally). Nelson, transformed into an armoured weapon, starts killing people while saying, "Protect."
Franklin finds that the artefacts are weapons designed to kill anyone who isn't "pure Ikarran". After killing all their enemies, the weapons decided the Ikarrans weren't pure enough and wiped them out. Sinclair talks to the weapon's personality and persuades it to let him 'kill' the weapon, releasing Nelson. So both Hendricks and Nelson are busted for murder. Then Garibaldi chews Sinclair out for risking his life. And the reporter catches up with Sinclair in the end.

05 The Parliament of Dreams
Earth Central has arranged a religious festival on Babylon 5; a security nightmare. Cmdr. Sinclair's relationship with Catherine Sakai, an old girlfriend, also plays out through the episode.
G'Kar receives a message from a dying rival to say he'll be dead within 48 hours of receiving the message. So he becomes suspicious of his new aide, Na'Toth. She tells him he probably has to worry about the Assassins' Guild. G'Kar is reluctant to go to Cmdr. Sinclair for help in case he asks awkward questions.
Lennier, Delenn's new assistant, arrives on the station feeling over-promoted. Delenn forbids any mention of her status as a Grey Council member. Religious ceremonies of all sorts form a background to the events on B5. G'Kar finds his bodyguard dead and wearing a black flower; the sign of the Assassins' Guild.
The messenger admits the message came from Na'Toth's father. But the messenger turns out to be the assassin but Na'Toth saves G'Kar, and he compromises the assassin. Meanwhile, Catherine leaves Babylon 5 and Sinclair comes up with a fitting demonstration of Earth's religions.

06 Mind War
Jason Ironheart, Psi-Corps Level 10, is pursued to Babylon 5 by Bester and Kelsey, two Level-12 "Psi-Cops". Sinclair's girlfriend Catherine is back. Catherine is setting up a confidential survey which requires Narn co-operation. Bester tells Sinclair that Ironheart was working on a covert operation with Earth Force Military Intelligence. Bester forces Talia Winters to let him do a scan to prove she has had no contact with Ironhear; who contacts her shortly afterwards.
G'Kar gives Catherine a cryptic warning about Sigma-957, the planet to be surveyed. Ironheart tells Winters that Psi Corps is experimenting to increase telepathic powers and create telekinetics, who will become undetectable assassins. And his new telekinetic powers have room-shaking side-effects!
Bester and Kelsey recognize the 'mind-quake' and they admit to Sinclair that Ironheart is no longer entirely human. But they claim that they can shut him down. Winters tells Sinclair that Ironheart came to Babylon 5 to say goodbye to her. Ironheart tells Sinclair that he needs Sinclair's help to get away from Babylon 5 and become whatever he's meant to become.
Narn vessels save Catherine when her ship loses power at Sigma-957. Ironheart kills Kelsey and escapes from Bester to become an energy being. Sinclair blackmails Bester into accepting his version of events. Winters finds that Ironheart's parting gift to her was to make her a telekinetic. At the end, G'Kar tells Catherine he saved her only to spare Sinclair distress and he warns her that there are creatures billions of years old lurking in the vicinity of Sigma-957.

07 The War Prayer
Shaal Mayan, a famous Minbari poet, is visiting her old friend Delenn when she is attacked. Garibaldi tells Sinclair a militantly pro-Earth organization called the Home Guard is attacking aliens. G'Karn expresses his disgust at the attack and warns Sinclair there will be 'bloody retribution' if anyone attacks a Narn. Meanwhile, a Centauri vessel unloads 2 prisoners who want to see 'Ambassador Cotto' – the man is Vir's cousin. The couple fled the Centauri Prime when their families tried to marry them to other people when they love each other. Londo fails to see what love has to do with marriage.
Garibaldi arrests a suspect for the assault on Mayan, Roberts. Sinclair tells Ambassador Kosh about the assaults on aliens but the Vorlon is not interested. Sinclair talks to Ivanova about the meeting and mentions he's been wondering how Kosh was poisoned when he first arrived on Babylon 5 if he wears a protective encounter suit. Ivanoval suggests the suit is more camouflage than protection.
Londo wants to send the Centauri couple back home. Garibaldi has to release his suspect. Ivanova has dinner with Malcolm, a former lover, who is thinking of starting a business of B5. The Centauri couple are attacked by the Home Guard and G'Kar has to be talked out of starting a riot. Roberts is attacked by aliens and Malcolm tries to recruit him into the Home Guard.
Sinclair decides to infiltrate the Home Guard. Londo uses Centauri tradition to produce a compromise which will allow Vir's cousin to marry his girlfriend. The Home Guard tests Sinclair's loyalty and then ask him to kill an alien. At which point, Garibaldi crashes the party and arrests everyone in sight. And Ivanova realizes she never really knew Malcolm.

08 And The Sky Full Of Stars
"Knight One" and "Knight Two" are on Babylon 5 after Commander Sinclair. Elsewhere, Benson, a security officer, is beaten up by 2 gamblers and told he has to pay up within 24 hours. Sinclair has Benson removed from the duty roster when Garibaldi suspects he has exceeded his gambling limit. The Knights need a power source for a gadget which they have brought aboard the station and Benson, desperate for money, steals one for them.
At MedLab, Dr. Franklin tells Delenn about the time he was ordered to surrender notes on the Minbari and he refused, fearing they would be used to create a bio-weapon. She evades questions about what she did during the war. Sinclair dreams about the Battle of the Line then wakes up to find himself apparently alone on the station. The Knights have got him. Delenn tells Garibaldi that Sinclair is missing and a search starts. The Knights have Sinclair in a 'cerebral matrix' or 'cybernet' and they want the truth of what happened to him during the Battle of the Line.
Sinclair remembers the Minbari who tried to kill Kosh telling him he has a hole in his mind. Sinclair breaks out of the cybernet, slugs the Knights and shoots at anyone whom he encounters. Dr. Franklin explains he's full of psychotropic drugs Delenn approaches Sinclair and he recognizes her as one of the grey figures whom he saw when the Minbari took him aboard their ship.
Knight One ends up dead and Earth asks for Knight Two, whose memory has been fried by the cybernet. Afterwards, Sinclair tells Delenn he remembers nothing about the Battle of the Line. But he notes down his recollections in his journal when he gets back to his quarters.

09 Deathwalker
Ambassador Kosh has a job for telepath Talia Winters, which runs through the episode. Na'Toth attacks a woman, calling her the "Deathwalker." The Dilgar, the woman's race, invaded a Narn planet and killed everyone, including Na'Toth's grandfather. Sinclair thinks the woman is too young to be the Deathwalker as the invasion was 30 years before.
The woman's injuries heal quickly but Dr. Franklin won't believe she's a Dilgar; he thinks they're extinct. Garibaldi searches her ship and finds evidence that she is the Deathwalker, Jha'dur, and a sample of a drug. G'Kar tells Na'Toth to forget vengeance because Jha'dur has made a discovery which their government wants. Earth wants it, too. Jha'dur tells Sinclair her drug retards ageing in all humanoid species.
Jha'dur has a Minbari ID and Sinclair asks Lenier to find out if a militant Minbari warrior caste has been sheltering her. Garibaldi is angry with Sinclair for thinking of releasing a woman who destroyed whole races. The ambassadors refuse to let Sinclair take her off B5. And the B5 Council votes against putting Jha'dur on trial, thanks to the Minbari.
The League threatens to start shooting if there is no trial but Ivanova gets them arguing over who will put Jha'dur on trial. Then they agree to let her be taken to Earth and put on trial after she has developed the anti-ageing drug. But the Vorlons destroy the ship taking her to the jump gate. Kosh tells Sinclair, "You are not ready for immortality." Finally, Winters tells Sinclair and Garibaldi about her job and they conclude Kosh was testing her to learn her deepest fears so that he can use them against her in the future.

10 Believers
Shon, an alien boy, needs simple surgery but his species won't allow it. Dr. Franklin suggests a temporary fix to buy time to talk the parents round. Ivanova, instead of Garibaldi, leads a flight to rescue the starliner Asimov, which has been attacked by Raiders. Sinclair won't order Dr. Franklin to perform the necessary surgery. Even so, the parents do a round of ambassadors, looking for backing for their religious beliefs, but no one is interested.
Sinclair asks Shon what he wants. The kid says he doesn't want to die but he doesn't want surgery. Ivanova disobeys orders to chase a Raider ship and finds herself being chased by a pack of them. Dr. Franklin disobeys orders and operates on the kid. So his parents don't want to know him. Then they kill him. Sinclair tells Franklin he won't fire him; this time. And Garibaldi gets to tell Ivanova she's not the only one who has been making unfortunate choices.

11 Survivors
President Santiago is visiting B5 and trying to make himself popular by delivering a new fighter wing; which means the bays have to be renovated. There is an explosion in a bay and a survivor ends up unconscious in MedLab. Major Lianna Kemmer, whose father was Mr. Garibaldi's friend, arrives to investigate as chief of presidential security. She ignores Garibaldi, who has to admit to Sinclair that her father stopped him drinking, which let him be an effective lawman. His enemies killed Frank Kemmer and Garibaldi got the blame for political reasons.
Major Kemmer wakes the survivor up. He says Garibaldi planted a bomb then croaks. So Garibaldi is suspended from duty and Kemmer takes over his job. Plans of the bay and a lot of Centauri currency are found in Garibaldi's quarters. Sinclair clashes with Kemmer when she claims Garibaldi is a saboteur and Ivanova ties up the communication channels to buy time.
Londo tells Garibaldi that G'Kar is probably trying to frame him and he could have Centauri currency from the Narn occupation of Ragesh 3. G'Kar denies trying to frame Garibaldi but offers him a job, which Garibaldi turns down. Garibaldi goes on the run, dives into a bottle and is picked up by Kemmer. The bomb victim turns out to be a member of Home Guard and he planted the bomb himself.
Lieutenant Cutter, a member of Major Kemmer's staff, turns out to be the traitor. Kemmer and Garibaldi are reconciled but Garibaldi is now worried by how easily he takes refuge in drink when the going gets tough.

12 By Any Means Necessary
A Narn transport ship loses its cargo of G'Quan Eth in a docking bay incident at Babylon 5 as the Narns are about to celebrate a religious festival. Commander Sinclair finds himself up against Neeoma Connally, a militant union leader, over the cause of the accident. Garibaldi finds that sub-standard parts were installed in the computer system and G'Kar is causing trouble, as usual. And he learns that Londo is the only person able to deliver G'Quan Eth in time.
Sinclair hears from Senator Hidoshi that the B5 budget has not been increased, as promised. So no pay increase for the workers and no money for new equipment. Sinclair finds he has an illegal strike on his hands and he threatens Connally with the Rush Act. Meanwhile, Londo holds G'Kar to ransom over a supply of G'Quan Eth and Earth sends Zento, a negotiator, to sort out the strikers.
Londo refuses to sell his G'Quan Eth as a reprisal for Ragesh 3. Zento threatens to use the Rush Act. G'Kar goes to Sinclair for help so he tries to talk Londo round but he gets nowhere. The Narn response is to steal a sacred Centauri statue. Connally is arrested when the dock workers start a riot after Zento invokes the Rush Act, but Sinclair uses it to settle the dispute. Then he sorts out G'Kar and Londo, and G'Kar is able to perform his religious ceremony.

13 Signs and Portents
A lone Starfury pilot is killed by Raiders near the station and an explorer, Mr. Morden, arrives at B5. Sinclair asks Garibaldi to help him find out more about his blank 24 hours during the Battle of the Line.
Londo takes delivery of a Centauri relic, watched by Morden, who later asks G'Kar what he wants. Londo meets Ladira, a Centauri seer, who predicts that Babylon 5 will be destroyed. Morden visits Delenn, who is dismayed and mutters to herself, "They're here." The Eye belonged to Lord Kiro's family, he has to hand it over to the Emperor and he's not happy about it.
Ladira has another vision. A freighter comes under attack by Raiders and Agent Six, who is watching Londo and Kiro is in touch with the Raiders. Morden makes sure that Kosh doesn't see him when the Vorlon returns to B5. Morden gets the answer he's looking for from Londo. Six and his accomplice steal the Eye and take the Centauri prisoner as Sinclair deduces that the raid on the transport ship is a diversion.
Six escapes, taking Lord Kiro with him. A mother ship for the Raiders arrives at B5 and takes Six's ship aboard. Ladira has another vision. Kosh tells Morden to leave but he won't go. The Raider mother ship gets away. Six tries to double-cross Lord Kiro, who was in on the plan to steal the Eye, but a huge black ship with long spines slices the Raider mother ship to bits.
Morden returns the Eye to Londo and saves his career. Garibaldi tells Sinclair he was a long way down the list of possible commanders for B5 but the Minbari insisted on his appointment. Finally, Ladira shares her vision with Sinclair and tells him that it's a possible future.

14 TKO
Garibaldi meets his old pal Walker Smith, a boxer, while making an arrest. Smith was kicked out of boxing when he refused to fix a fight. He's on B5 to join in the Mutai, an alien extreme form of fighting. A Rabbi Koslov delivers her father's legacy to Ivanova then tells Sinclair she needs time off to perform a shiva ritual. Ivanova is furious. She doesn't want her father controlling her life, even after his death.
Smith is told humans can't enter the Mutai but an alien called Caliban shows him how to blag his way into the event and trains him. Ivanova is brow-beaten into doing the ritual. Smith gets his match with Gyor, Garibaldi foils an attempt to knobble Smith and they fight each other to a stand-still. The match is declared a draw and the Muta-Do says humans can fight in future events.

15 Grail
Sinclair is dragged away from dinner to meet a distinguished guest and in Downbelow, a crime boss called Deuce is after information on secret passages. He kills a woman who testified against him, allegedly using Ambassador Kosh, to compel Jinxo, who was on the B5 construction crew, to co-operate. Elsewhere, a man is sueing aliens in a court for abducting his great-grandfather.
Sinclair meets Aldous Gajic, who is looking for the Holy Grail. Garibaldi arrests Jinxo for picking Gajic's pocket. Garibaldi is furious when Dr. Franklin tells him his witness against Deuce has had her mind wiped. Jinxo is sentenced to be chucked off the station, he protests that it will be the end for the station and everyone aboard, and he ends up in Gajic's custody. And Deuce gets off at his trial.
Jinxo tells Gajic that he's Babylon 5's curse. He worked on all the previous stations and they were destroyed, or disappeared, when he left them. Dr. Franklin suggests the witness was mind-wiped by a creature called a na'ka'leen feeder. The Minbari are willing to help Gajic with his search, to Jinxo's surprise. Deuce's men try to capture Jinxo but Gajic fights them off.
At the next encounter, Gajic is captured, so Jinxo goes to Sinclair to tell him the Deuce plans to feed Gajic to the 'Vorlon'. During a battle, the feeder is blasted and Gajic takes a shot for Jinxo, so he agrees to continue the quest for the Holy Grail.

16 Eyes
Mr. Garibaldi is building an antique motorcycle and Lennier offers his help. Earth is worried about the Free Mars movement using B5 for arms smuggling. Representatives of Quartermaster Corporation start asking questions about the station's staff, including Sinclair. But they are really from Internal Investigations, checking up on loyalty to Earth. Ivanova refuses to let a telepath scan her and she offers her resignation to avoid a scan.
Sinclair studies the regulations and finds that a scan is not necessary. Gray, the telepath, tries to make friends with Ivanova. Colonel Zayn makes a point of getting up Sinclair's nose, then he takes over the station and orders the senior officers to take scans. Sinclair gets nowhere with Earthforce. Garibaldi tells him that Zayn was ahead of him of the list of candidates for the commander of B5. Then he has to haul Ivanova out of a punch-up in the casino area.
Sinclair insists that Zayn be included in the scans and demands to know why the investigation has become a hunt for his scalp. Zayn pulls a gun and that's the end of the investigation. Lennier completes the motorbike and installs a clean, Minbari power unit. And he and Garibaldi go for a ride on it.

17 Legacies
The body of Branmer, the Minbari general who led the attack on the Line, is stopping at B5 on the way home. Talia Winters detects Alisa, an emerging telepath, and offers to notify Psi Corps. Ivanova objects. Neroon of the Star Riders had charge of the body and he tries to pick a fight with Sinclair; but Delenn steps in. When the coffin is opened, the body is missing and Garibaldi investigates.
Ivanova and Winters offer Alisa the pros and cons of the Corps, and Na'Toth offers her a life on Narn if she provides tissue samples. Garibaldi has the stomachs of a group of pak'ma'ra pumped as Neroon rages about the station. Ivanova takes Alisa to see Delenn to find out about Minbari treatment of telepaths; but she scans Delenn and finds that she knows what happened to the body.
Delenn is caught with Branmer's ashes but she tells Sinclair and Neroon that she is honouring his last wish. She wanted to pass off the disappearance of the body as a miracle. Sinclair makes a gesture of reconciliation to the Minbari. Alisa decides to go to Minbar. Sinclair meets her as she is leaving and asks if she saw anything else in Delenn's mind. Alisa responds with chrysalis and leaves Sinclair to ponder the significance of the word.

18 A Voice in the Wilderness part 1
Epsilon 3, the planet which B5 orbits, is suffering violent earthquakes. Dr. Tasaki, a geologist, investigates but his shuttle is zapped by an energy beam from the planet. Ivanova says the beam is a signal. Draal, Delenn's former teacher, visits her. An armed revolt has begun on Mars, where Sinclair was born. Garibaldi asks Talia Winters to get a message to Lise Hampton on Mars using a secret Psi Corps channel he's not supposed to know about.
Tasaki's next exhibition attracts a shower of missiles. Sinclair and Londo both see visions of an alien asking for help. Sinclair and Ivanova go down to the planet, where they find the alien attached to a giant machine. He says they have to help him or all their people will die! As Sinclair and Ivanova are taking the alien to B5 for medical attention, a big ship comes through the jump gate.
   To be continued . . .

19 A Voice in the Wilderness part 2
The ship is the Earth Alliance cruiser Hyperion. Captain Pierce tells Sinclair that Earth wants to stake a claim to the technology which is at work on Epsilon 3. Garibaldi bashes a bloke in a bar who reckons EarthGov should nuke Mars. Earth gives Sinclair no support when he complains about Pierce taking over. Ivanova finds that a network of fusion reactors on the planet is set to overload in 48 hours.
Varn, the alien, says further expeditions to Epsilon 3 will only speed up its destruction. Sinclair finds Pierce setting up an expedition and threatens to shoot his ships out of the sky. A ship of Varn's race arrives and gives everyone else 10 hours to clear the area. So Pierce gives the aliens a 9-hour deadline to push off. Varn says the other aliens are outcasts. Londo pilots a shuttle down to the planet taking Draal, Delenn and Varn. This starts a shooting war with the aliens.
A force from the planet deprives the combatants of power and an image of Draal tells them the planet belongs to none of them. The aliens object and are vaporized. Draal takes Varn's place in the mighty machine. Hyperion leaves as Sinclair's authority is confirmed by Earth. Garibaldi hears that Lise Hampton is safe. At the end, he asks Delenn why she didn't tell Sinclair that someone had to stay behind on the planet. She tells him that Sinclair would have taken the job, but his destiny lies elsewhere.

20 Babylon Squared
A Starfury is lost while investigating mysterious tachyon emissions. The 30-year-old pilot is found to have died of old age but he scratched 'B4' on a buckle. Sinclair orders all ships to stay clear of sector 14, where Babylon 4 disappeared. B5 receives a request for a rescue mission from B4. Meanwhile, Delenn has been summoned to a meeting of the Grey Council, which needs a leader. She doesn't want the job.
Everyone aboard B4, including the new arrivals from B5, is experiencing flashes forward and back in time. Sinclair is introduced to an alien called Zathras, who appeared mysteriously. He looks at Sinclair and say, "Not the One." Then he babbles on about a terrible war. A flickering figure in a spacesuit appears; The One, according to Zathras. Zathras gives the figure something then tells everyone to leave at once.
Delenn tells the Council that she needs to stay with the humans and she gets her way eventually. Sinclair realizes that the B5 Starfury was caught in a time distortion. Zathras is trapped on B4 but The One – an older Sinclair – rescues him after everyone else has left the station. As Delenn is leaving for B5, she is presented with a Triluminary. Finally, Sinclair mentions Garibaldi's thoughts about B4 and The Flying Dutchman to Ivanova.

21 The Quality of Mercy
Londo is under orders to promote good relations with the other species on B5 and he offers to show Lennier around. A Karl Mueller has been found guilty of double murder and Ivanova finds that Dr. Franklin is running a free clinic in Downbelow. Garibaldi wants Talia Winters to look into Mueller's mind to find if he's killed before. Franklin investigates Laura Rosen, who has an alien device which lets her cure all ills.
Mueller is sentenced to be brain-wiped. Winters finds he's a serial killer. Londo introduces Lennier to poker and starts a punch-up when his tentacles are spotted. Franklin finds that Laura's lifesigns drop when he's connected to her device and treating someone, but she has Lake's Syndrome and only 3 years to live.
Mueller, of course, escapes from custody and goes to Laura for treatment for a PPG wound. But Laura gives him Lake's Syndrome and makes him croak while he's threatening her daughter. And Franklin gets custody of her machine at the end.

22 Chrysalis
On December 30 2258, G'Kar and Londo are rowing over quadrant 37. Garibaldi comes across a dying man, Petrov, who says someone is going to be killed. Catherine, his girlfriend, has a new year surprise for Sinclair and marriage is in the air. Morden wants to meet Londo. Meanwhile, Delenn is building a crystal structure in her quarters. Morden offers help with the situation in quadrant 37. Delenn goes to Kosh for reassurance.
Garibaldi is warned off further investigation. Then he finds that Devereau, Petrov's recent employer, is an Earth Force security agent. Narn ships are destroyed by spider-like ships in Q37. Garibaldi finds that Petrov was loading a ship carrying jamming equipment for the gold channel frequency for Earth Force 1, President Santiago's ship. He tries to arrest Devereau but he is shot in the back by one of his aides.
Delenn shows Sinclair her Triluminary and asks him to come to her quarters as soon as possible. There are 10,000 Narns dead in Q37. G'Kar is convinced some new power was responsible. Garibaldi is taken to MedLab. Sinclair goes to C&C and finds that all gold channels have been jammed. Then ISN shows the destruction of Earth Force 1.
Londo is dismayed by the death toll in Q37 but Morden tells him to enjoy being a hero. Garibaldi's aide kills Devereau and his men. Kosh finds Sinclair watching Vice-President Clarke being sworn in and reminds him that he's forgotten something. He arrives at Delenn's quarters after she has become a chrysalis.

23 Points of Departure
On January 8, 2259, General Hague warns Captain John Sheridan of Agamemnon that a renegade Minbari ship called Trigati is lurking near Babylon 5, possibly with hostile intent. There is an uneasy atmosphere on Babylon 5 eight days after Earth President Santiago's assassination and five days after Commander Sinclair's recall to Earth. Garibaldi is still in Med Lab and Lenier is standing vigil over the chrysalis in Abassador Delen's quarters.
General Hague tells Ivanova that Sheridan will replace Sinclair, who is now ambassador to Minbar. Ivanova knows that his appointment will be controversial because the Minbari remember Sheridan for luring one of their ships into a trap and destroying it during the war.
A Minbari called Heddron tries to warn Sheridan about Kalain, a Minbari who has just arrived on the station. Sheridan suspects that Kalain was the second-in-command of the Trigati, which did not surrender at the end of the war. Heddon, from the Ministry of Culture, refuses to explain how he knows Kalain of the warrior caste because he doesn't recognize Sheridan's authority.
Sheridan realizes that the warrior caste feels betrayed by the Minbari government and Kalain's target might be Ambassador Delenn. Kalain is arrested in Delenn's quarters. Lenier tells Sheridan to return much later. After questioning Kalain, and not getting far, Sheridan concludes that his mission involves something other than killing Delenn.
Lenier tells Sheridan that, at the end of the Battle of the Line, Delenn had the pilot of a Starfury taken aboard her ship for questioning; and discovered that Minbari souls are being reborn in human bodies. As Minbari do not kill Minbari, the war had to end. But the warrior caste wasn't told why. A Minbari cruiser comes through the jumpgate and Kalain commits suicide in his cell.
Sheridan realizes the rebel Minbari are trying to provoke an incident and blame it on Babylon 5. He orders his forces not to shoot as Trigati closes in. Another Minbari cruiser arrives through the jumpgate and Trigati self-destructs. Sheridan thinks his presence on Babylon 5 is to blame for all the trouble. Ivanova tells him to give himself the benefit of the doubt. In Delenn's quarters, the chrysalis begins to move and the transformed Delenn begins to emerge. Meanwhile, Sheridan delivers his good luck speech to an empty C&C.

24 Revelations
G'Kar barely escapes a Shadow attack on a Narn outpost in quadrant 37. Sheridan's sister is due to visit Babylon 5 and Dr. Franklin tells the new commander that he needs to use Laura Rosen's alien machine (Episode 21) to bring Garibaldi out of his coma. Mr. Morden visits Ambassador Molari to assure him that the attack in sector 37 can't be blamed on the Centauri. He asks Londo for information on 'anything strange happening out on the rim'.
Elizabeth Sheridan is worried as her brother is still burying himself in his work two years after his wife's death. Sheridan and Dr. Franklin agree to use the machine together to revive Mr. Garibaldi. G'Kar tells Na'Toth that an old enemy from the past has returned. Garibaldi wakes up and receives the news that President Santiago is dead. Garibaldi says he doesn't know who shot him, to the relief of Jack, his treacherous aide.
Lenier finds Delenn out of her cocoon and calls Dr. Franklin. Sheridan tells his sister that he blames himself for letting her go on the mission which resulted in her death. G'Kar tells the council an enemy described in the Book of G'Qwan has returned and he has sent a ship to their homeworld; Za'ha'dum. Garibaldi gets Talia Winters, the telepath, to scan him and finds that Jack shot him. When questioned, Jack says change is coming and he wants to be on the winning side. President Clark orders Sheridan to return Jack to Earth.
The Narn ship at Za'ha'dum is destroyed. Na'Toth says it could have been an accident but G'Kar suspects an ambush; and no one else knew about the ship other than Molari and Sheridan. Delenn rejoins the Council as a Minbari-human hybrid. She explains that she wants to be a bridge between the two worlds. Elizabeth shows her brother a message from his wife which proves that Anna was determined to go on her final mission, no matter what. Garibaldi tells Dr. Franklin and Ivanova that he suspects Psi Corps is involved, illegally, with President Clark.
Elizabeth Sheridan leaves. Meanwhile, G'Kar has been reading T.S. Elliot and concludes that the human might be wiser than he thought. Ivanova calls Sheridan to C&C on a hunch. She thinks the ship which collected Jack had a bogus EarthForce ID and he is gone, along with all the evidence gathered against him.

25 The Geometry of Shadows
Garibaldi is unsure about returning to work as he doesn't trust Sheridan and he feels he should have spotted that Jack was a traitor. Lord Reefa tells Molari that the Centauri regime thought he was crazy when he said he could deal with the Narns in sector 37. Reefa and his allies hope to take over when the present emperor dies, and they want Londo to join them. Meanwhile, Drazi wearing purple and green sashes are brawling on Babylon 5.
Londo spots a Technomage and thinks it's a bad omen. Sheridan puts Ivanova in charge of policing the Drazi to improve her diplomatic skills, and tells her he had her promoted to full commander. Londo decides that he needs the endorsement of the Technomages. Sheridan tells Garibaldi he wants him back on the job. Ivanova finds that it is only the colour of a sash picked at random which decides the Drazi sides and finds herself in the middle of a punch up.
Elric, the Technomage, tells Vir he's not interested in meeting Londo. Sheridan finds Ivanova in Med Lab. She says she doesn't want to be relieved of the Drazi problem. Londo offers his services to Sheridan over the Technomages. Sheridan tells him they are all emigrating. Elric tells Sheridan that the Technomages are leaving to preserve their knowledge because a terrible storm is coming.
Meanwhile, the Drazi conflict has escalated to include murder and the greens are planning to space the purples using a message sent in Ivanova's name to lure them into a trap. Garibaldi comes to Ivanova's rescue. Elric starts to make life electronically difficult for Londo. Ivanova takes over command of the green Drazi. Londo apologizes to the Technomages. Garibaldi returns to duty. Elric tells Londo he is touched by darkness but provides the endorsement that he needs for the people back home.

26 A Distant Star
Cortez, a huge exploration vessel, arrives at Babylon 5 for supplies. The captain can't understand how Sheridan can be satisfied with a desk job like commanding a space city. Dr. Franklin puts Garibaldi, Ivanova and Sheridan on diets, which exclude their favourite foods. The Minbari on the station are worried that Delenn is no longer one of them.
Cortez leaves but an explosion aboard causes it to lose its position in hyperspace and the ability to reach a jump gate. Babylon 5 receives a mayday and Sheridan comes up with the idea of a string of star furies talking up positions starting at the jump gate and continuing out until they contact Cortez. They find the missing ship but a star fury is lost when a Shadow ship collides with it. The last star fury in the line, piloted by Lt. Keffer, is also hit by the Shadow ship but he manages to point Cortez in the right direction.
Delenn tells Sheridan that the universe wants him on Babylon 5. Keffer is able to plot a course to the jump gate when another Shadow ship passes him. And at the end, Garibaldi has a feast of Bagna Cauda with Dr. Franklin joining in, and Sheridan tells Ivanova that Delenn has a special relationship with the universe.

27 The Long Dark
A ship called Copernicus arrives at Babylon 5 and a man called Amis from Downbelow starts raving about doomsday. Garibaldi puts him in the brig then lets him go when he finds out Amis is a fellow 'ground pounder'. The ship is very old, pre-dating jump gates, and there is a body aboard and a woman in a freezer, whom Dr. Franklin revives. The doctor decides the man was murdered as his freezer didn't malfunction and his organ are missing!
Mariah Cirrus has been on her ship for a century and the man was her husband. Dr. Franklin fills her in on what she has missed over the last 100 years. Amis tells Garibaldi that death came off the ship and the League wants Mariah removed from the station. Amis tells Garibaldi that he ran into a creature like the one on Copernicus when he was in the military.
Amis lures the creature into a kill zone, believing that's the only way to get rid of it. He survives but the creature doesn't. Then Ivanova finds that Copernicus was reprogrammed to head for Za'ha'dum after the creature came aboard. And in the Book of G'Qwan, G'Kar finds a picture of the creature.

28 A Spider in the Web
Talia Winters' friend, Taro Isogi, wants to expand FutureCorp beyond Earth to Mars despite a lot of opposition. Senator Elise Voudreau warns Sheridan that Isogi will be meeting Amanda Carter – "outspoken advocate of Mars independence." Voudreau believes Carter is conspiring with FutureCorp to finance another rebellion on Mars Colony. Isoqi thinks Mars could become independent in 10 years if it links up with FutureCorp.
A man attacks and kills Isogi while he is talking to Winters. She is unable to understand the images she saw in the assassin's mind. The killer is in contact with a group based in the San Diego wastelands and he is ordered to kill Winters. Garibaldi is worried about the weapon and why it didn't show up on Security's scanners.
The killer attacks Winters but she escapes to tell Sheridan that the man seems to be reliving his own death. Garibaldi identifies the man as a Free Mars leader called Abel Horn, who is dead, according to Earth Force Intelligence. Sheridan puts Winters in protective custody and tells Garibaldi about Project Lazarus, which put cybernetics in a subject's brains. The subject was then fixated on the moment of his death, which let the computer take complete control of the body.
Horn goes to see Carter, telling her he needs help from Talia Winters. Winters tells him what Psi Corps did to him. Garibaldi and Sheridan track down Horn. Horn makes Sheridan kill him, then his body explodes, destroying all of the evidence. Carter decides to push on with Isogi's plan and Winters agrees to help.
Garibaldi asks Sheridan how he knew about Project Lazarus and he says he collects details of black projects and that there are rumours of a secret organization operating deep inside EarthGov. Isogi was a danger to Earth's policy on Mars and that was why he was killed and an attempt was made to frame the Free Mars organization. Sheridan adds, "There is a spider in the web, Mr. Garibaldi, and I intend to find it... and kill it." Meanwhile, Talia Winters identifies a PsiCop seen in Horn's mind – she is also officially deceased.

29 Soul Mates
Ambassador Molari's three wives arrive on Babylon 5 and Garibaldi gets a bad feeling about a trader called Stoner, who used to be married to Talia Winters. Ivanova has to tell the restructured Delenn how to manager hair. Winters tells Sheridan that she was encouraged to marry Stoner as part of a Psi Corps scheme to breed stronger telepaths but the marriage was anulled when he left the Corps. The Centauri emperor has granted Londo Molari a wish, and he has chosen to reduce his trio of wives to just one.
Garibaldi has a run-in with Stoner, who later sells a Centauri statuette to Mariel, one of the Ambassador's wives. The statuette fires 2 darts at Molari, who ends up in MedLab. Timov, another wife, provides blood for a transfusion after swearing Dr. Franklin to secrecy. Stoner tells Talia Winters that the Corps let him leave because he is no longer a telepath after they experimented on him. Sheridan realizes that Stoner was converted into an empath and Garibaldi suggests he was sent to Babylon 5 to persuade Talia Winters to undergo the procedure so that the Corps can breed more empaths.
Psi Corps reclaims Stoner and Molari choses Timov as his sole wife. She asks why because she doesn't, and never will, love him, and they will never get along. "Because, with you, I will always know where I stand," he tells her.

30 A Race Through Dark Places
EarthForce is sending more military ships to Babylon 5, reducing the station's commercial income. Worse, the rent on Sheridan's and Ivanova's quarters is raised. Sheridan refuses to pay. Bester interrogates a rogue telepath on Mars colony and heads for Babylon 5. He wants the station to close down an underground escape route for unregistered telepaths. Ambassador Delenn invites Sheridan to dinner as a bridge-building exercise.
EarthForce locks Sheridan and Ivanova out of their rooms. Talia Winters is grabbed by rogue telepaths when they fail to kill Bester. The rogues try to educate Winters about what Psi Corps is capable of, and they know Jason Ironheart's history. [episode 06 Mind War] Dr. Franklin admits to Sheridan that he is involved with the escape route. Bester finds the rogues and he implanted with mental images showing himself and Winters killing the lot of them.
Dr. Franklin tells Sheridan that the escape route has been moved away from Babylon 5 to deprive EarthForce of a reason to shut the station down. Bester tells Winters to keep an eye on Sheridan, who has solved the rent rise problem by shuffling cash from one budget to another. And at the end, Talia Winters apologizes to Ivanova for not believing that there is something rotten at the heart of Psi Corps.

31 The Coming of Shadows
Sheridan invites the Centauri emperor to Babylon 5. G'Kar objects because of the history between the Narns and the Centauri. Lord Refa plans to undermine the emperor's authority as a political tactic and Ambassador Molari has to go along with it. G'Kar plans to assassinate the emperor and a mysterious stranger is lurking nearby as Garibaldi makes security arrangements. Garibaldi takes him into custody.
The emperor has a heart attack and gives Dr. Franklin a confidential message in MedLab; he wants to offer an apology to G'Kar and apologizing to the Narns was his sole reason for visiting the station. Molairi uses Mr. Morden to make something dramatic happen to boost his and Refa's cause. Londo Molari has a vision of the future in a dream.
A Narn colony in quadrant 14 is wiped out. Not knowing what has happened, G'Kar buys Molari a drink. On Centauri Prime, the prime minister is murdered. Garibaldi's prisoner is a Ranger with a message from Ambassador Sinclair, who is now on Minbar. He wants to warn Garibaldi about a great darkness which is coming. G'Kar goes into a violent rage when he discovers what happened to the Narn colony.
Sheridan stops G'Kar from tracking down Molari and killing him. Garibaldi passes on his message to Sheridan and Ivanova but witholds the source. Sheridan persuades Molari to let the survivors of the colony return to Narn. The Narns declare war on the Centauri Republic. The Centauri emperor dies and power passes to his nephew, who supports the Refa/Molari faction. The Ranger promises that his group will stay in touch with Garibaldi, and Delenn receives a copy of the message.

32 GROPOS
General Richard Franklin, of the 356th infantry division arrives at Babylon 5 with 6 EarthForce ships. He's Dr. Franklin's father, he's on a classified mission and he needs lodgings for 25,000 troops. Earth has been asked by the Shilassen Triumvirate to intervene in a civil war on the planet Akdor. General Franklin's troops have to assault the death-trap rebel stronghold at Matok and they need Sheridan's knowledge of the area. With the Narn and Centauri at war, the General has also been ordered to leave new weapons on Babylon 5 to beef up the station's defences.
The 'ground-pounders' think they're going to Io, the staff of B5 have to share their quarters and Garibaldi is expecting a lot of trouble. Dr. Franklin and his father don't get on, and he tells Ivanova about it over dinner. Some ground-pounders are about to set about Delenn, over the Earth-Minbari war, but Dodger, one of the number, takes Delenn's side. She then takes a fancy to Garibaldi but nothing happens. Dr. and General Franklin reach an understanding.
The ground-pounders stage a bar-room brawl. At the height of it, their general and their sergeant-major arrive to tell them they're all shipping out. Dodger tells Garibaldi he'll never know what he missed and Sheridan accepts reparations for all the damage caused and turns down the chance to lock up the perpetrators. Finally, ISN broadcasts a report on the assault on Matok. The rebels were beaten but all of the ground-pounders who got themselves noticed on B5, including Dodger, are dead.

33 All Alone in the Night
The Grey Council has a new leader and Delenn has to return to Minbar so that it can be decided whether she remains a member of the Council. She fears that she will also be removed from Babylon 5. Commander Ivanova tells Captain Sheridan that ships passing through Sector 92 have reported unusual sightings. Sheridan goes out to investigate. Meanwhile, a huge ship destroys a group of Narn ships and captures one survivor.
Ivanova is upset because Sheridan failed to tell her that General Hague will be visiting B5. Sheridan tells her it's a private matter and he will be back soon. But his flight is attacked by a strange ship, Sheridan is taken prisoner and only Lt. Ramirez survives. He receives a lethal dose of radiation before he can escape. Sheridan finds himself the subject of medical experiments.
The Grey Council reminds Delenn that she was told to wait before turning herself into a Minbari-human hybrid, and she has been expelled. Sheridan finds himself in a cell with a Drazi, who has a control device attached to his head. The Drazi is killed and he has to fight a Narn next. Ramirez dies in MedLab on B5.
Delenn has been replaced by Neroon of the Warrior Caste instead of someone else from the Religious Caste. He says it's because Delenn's caste lied to the warriors to end the Earth-Minbar war. Delenn is told to go to Babylon 5 and stay there. Sherdan removes the device from the Narn's head while he is unconscious. The Narn says there is no escape.
General Hague concludes that the more time the alien ship spends collecting specimens, the more time EarthForce has to find it. Sheridan is contacted mentally by Ambassador Kosh after seeing a range of visions, and starts to form a plan. Delenn, returning to Babylon 5, tells Sheridan that the Streibs have been probing Minbar's defences over the years. Sheridan and the Narn escape from the cell as the Streibs come under attack. Delenn tells them to release their prisoners, or else. The Streibs dump them into space but Sheridan and the Narn make it to a survival pod.
General Hague has a device to counter listening devices and ensure that his discussion with Sheridan remains confidential. Sheridan assures him that his senior staff are all trustworthy. Hague tells him that President Clarke thinks Sheridan is just a 'hard-nosed jarhead', which gives him scope to run secret operations. They agree that Psi Corps was probably behind President Santiago's assassination. After General Hague leaves, Sheridan briefs Garibaldi, Dr. Franklin and Ivanova on the fight-back against President Clarke.

34 Acts of Sacrifice
Ambassador G'Kar complains to Captain Sheridan that the Centauri are killing Narn civilians despite a promise not to. Sheridan tells Ivanova that EarthGov wants him to persuade the Lumati to become allies. G'Kar asks Delenn for help but she turns him down. Ivanova is not thrilled to learn that the Lumati think that humans are inferior beings. Ambassador Molari finds that now he has influence, everyone wants to be his friend.
Security on Babylon 5 is having to keep Narns and Centauri apart, and a Narn is shot. The Lumati see no point to MedLab. They think the weak should die. Londo repays his gambling debts to Mr. Garibaldi. Sheridan tells G'Kar he'll have the Narns thrown off Babylon 5 if he can't control them. G'Kar passes on the message but the Narns are too hell-bent on revenge to listen.
Ivanova has to be a tour guide for the Lumati. EarthGov tells Sheridan not to intervene on behalf of Narn civilians. Na'Toth tells G'Kar that Narns are buying weapons. The Lumati approve of derelicts ending up in DownBelow. G'Kar fights his rebels and he is stabbed with a poisoned blade. Delenn agrees to help Sheridan help Narn civilians unofficially. Ivanova is dismayed when she learns that the Lumati ambassador expects to have sex with her to seal the deal.
A conversation with Dr. Franklin gives Ivanova a way out of a tricky situation. G'Kar is dismayed by how little aid is on offer, but he thanks Sheridan and Delenn. Molari surprises Sheridan & Garibaldi by taking the death of a Centauri philosophically. Sheridan is able to tell Ivanova that the Lumati want to become allies thanks to her. And at the end, Garibaldi and Molari enjoy a friendly drink while they can.

35 Hunter, Prey
Sheridan and Ivanova take a look at Ambassador Kosh's ship then Garibaldi tells them that EarthForce is hunting Dr. Jacobs, President Clarke's former physican. Agent Cranston of Earth Special Intelligence arrives on Babylon 5. He says Dr. Jacobs is releasing embarrasing information about the EarthGov. Dr. Franklin refuses to believe that Dr. Jacobs, his former professor, is a bad guy.
Sheridan tells Ambassador Kosh they should try to understand each other. The Vorlon is not convinced. A woman brings Sheridan a message from 'the general'. She says Clarke left President Santiago's ship 24 hours before it was destroyed pleading illness. Dr. Jacobs could testify that he wasn't ill. She tells Sheridan he has to get Dr. Jacobs' testimony and ensure that he leaves the station safely.
Dr. Jacobs is keeping going on stims, one step ahead of Security. Lurkers in DownBelow take him prisoner. Dr. Franklin spots a merchant who his trying to sell Dr. Jacobs' distinctive watch. The lurkers try to sell Dr. Jacobs to Cranston. Kosh offers to teach Sheridan about himself until he is ready 'to fight legends'.
Garibaldi and Dr. Franklin rescue Dr. Jacobs. Cranston is allowed to tie his scanners into those aboard Babylon 5. Kosh asks for permission to leave Babylon 5 but Sheridan makes him wait until Cranston has confirmed that Dr. Jacobs is not aboard the station. Kosh's ship is scanned, too, before being allowed to leave with just one, non-human lifeform aboard.
Cranston is thwarted. Dr. Jacobs is recovered from the Vorlon ship and Sheridan hands Jacobs' data crystal over to the emissary from General Hague.

36 There All the Honor Lies
Ivanova is outraged when Sheridan puts her in charge making sure no one is demeaned by the gift shop. Sheridan is attacked by a Minbari when he chases a thief, who has stolen his link. Delenn insists on an investigation of the death, which Lenier performs, and Sheridan tells Garibaldi to find another Minbari, who witnessed the incident. Garibaldi thinks it was a Minbari set-up aimed at Sheridan.
Ashan, the Minbari witness, refuses to talk to Delenn because she's a freak. Then he calls Sheridan 'Starkiller'. Lenier thinks things don't look good for Sheridan. Delenn finds Ashan's statement 'dubious'. EarthDome has inflicted a lawyer, Guinevere Corey, on him as he will have to go on trial and be lose his job as commander of Babylon 5. Kosh insists on giving Sheridan a lesson in understanding and takes him DownBelow.
Vir is unhappy because his job consists mainly of keeping Londo Molari's secrets, and he's being replaced. Molari protests about the shop selling a doll of him, Sheridan agrees to have it removed from sale and Londo lets slip that Minbari can lie in certain circumstances.
Chasing Ashan, Zach Allen is knocked down by Lenier, who finds Ashan talking to the man who stole Sheridan's link. Ashan gets away. Sheridan tells Delenn that her government wants Ashan sent home, which will prevent a trial and leave Sheridan's credibility destroyed, as planned. He tells her that larger ideas cannot be preserved if smaller ones are sacrificed through lies.
Ashan tells Lenier that their clan's leaders wanted to get back at Sheridan for his destruction of the Black Star during the Earth-Minbar war. Sheridan agrees to save the clan's honour and create one more Babylon 5 mystery.

37 And Now For a Word
ISN puts a news crew aboard Babylon 5 for 36 hours at a time when Narns destroy a Centauri transport and say it was carrying weapons. President Clarke's regime is unenthusiastic about the station. Every one of the major figures is interviewed. An investigation shows that the Centauri vessel was carrying fusion bombs.
Narns and Centauri vessels start shooting right outside Babylon 5. The station's fighters are forced to shoot them up to make they stop. Ambassadors G'Kar and Molari give their personal views on the 100-year occupation of Narn. The Centauri send a huge warship to blockade Babylon 5 to prevent Centauri ships from being searched for weapons. An ISN commercial break includes one from the Psi Corps.
Sheridan responds to the Centauri threat with defiance, knowing that the Centauri won't want to get into a war on two fronts. A Narn cruiser arrives and starts fighting the Centauri cruiser. Both ships are destroyed and Sheridan gives a closing message about the function of Babylon 5: its job is not to enforce the peace, it's to create the peace.

38 In the Shadow of Z'ha'dum
Babylon 5 is running out of space for Narn refugees. In the Zocalo, Mr. Morden learns that Ambassador Molari has been recalled to Centauri Prime. When he asks Vir what he wants, Vir replies: "I'd like to live just long enough to be there when they cut off your head and stick it on a pike, as a warning to the next ten generations that some favors come with too high a price," Vir answers. "I want to look up into your lifeless eyes and wave like this. Can you and your associates arrange that for me, Mr. Morden?" Morden gives him a data crystal instead.
Captain Sheridan is sorting out the possessions of his dead wife, Anna. Mr. Garibaldi spots a picture of Morden, who should be dead, among them. Telepath Talia Winters is employed by Mr. MacAfee of the Ministry of Peace on Earth. Morden tells Sheridan he suffered amnesia after Icarus came to grief on Za'ha'dum. Sheridan doesn't believe him and holds him prisoner until he talks, telling Morden a dead man has no rights.
MacAfee is recruiting for Night Watch, an organization which detects possible problems. Zack Allen of Security joins for the 50 credits a week. Garibaldi objects to Sheridan's illegal detention of Morden and quits his job. Vir asks for Morden's release but won't say why he is important to the Centauri Republic. Talia Winters refuses to scan Morden without his consent. She faints when she meets Morden, seeing visions of something menacing.
Delenn and Kosh tell Sheridan that Morden must be released. Then they let him into the secret of the Shadows, who are returning to their places of power after 1,000 years. The crew of Icarus 'woke something up' on Za'ha'dum. Sheridan has Morden released and gets Garibaldi back on the job. Then he tells Kosh he plans to go to Za'ha'dum. "If you go to Z'ha'dum, you will die," Kosh warns.

39 Knives
Strange things are happening in Grey Sector on Babylon 5. Londo Molari's old friend Urza Jaddo visits the station. Sheridan is 'attacked' by a dead Markab in Grey 10. Sheridan shoots at what seems to be a dangerous beast in his quarters. Garibaldi tells him the Markab's death looks like suicide. Sheridan tells him to keep digging. Jaddo asks Molari for help in preventing his family from being branded as traitors.
After another vision, Sheridan consults Dr. Franklin, who can find nothing wrong. He suggests it's a new virus. Lord Refa tells Molari that Jaddo is already beyond help. Garibaldi tells Sheridan that the Markab passed through Sector 14, where Babylon 4 reappeared the previous year.
Jaddo tells Molari that Lord Refa is behind his problems. Molari refuses to have Refa eliminated, so Jaddo sees challenging him to a duel to the death as the only way of restoring his family's honour. They begin to fight as Sheridan heads for Sector 14 in a Starfury.
Jaddo is mortally wounded and he tells Molari that the dishonour dies with him without touching his family. Meanwhile, an entity, which transferred from the Markab to Sheridan, leaves the captain in Sector 14. It was just trying to get home. And at the end, Molari tells Vir that Jaddo was a more skilled swordsman than him and he has doubts about the choices that he has made.

40 Confessions and Lamentations
A Markab cruiser is 10 hours overdue at Babylon 5 and Lt. Keffer keeps searching for whatever he saw in hyperspace. Sheridan tells Ivanova to put a stop to his missions. Dr. Franklin is suspicious; 4 dead Markabs have turned up in 3 days. Zeta squadron finds all 200 Markabs on the cruiser dead. A Markab doctor tells Franklin that they have a disease which is 100% terminal and 100% infectious.
The disease is associated with immorality and the Markab would rather die than admit having it. It is spreading throughout the entire Markab population in the galaxy and they don't know if the plague can jump species. Sheridan puts the station under quarantine and the Markab have to be put in isolation as disorder spreads on the station. Delenn volunteers to help the Markab.
The Markab doctor performs an autopsy, gets the plague and provides Dr. Franklin with a subject for study. The plague spreads to the Pak'ma'ra. Franklin finds that the plague won't spread to humans, he can't cure it but he can keep patients alive while they fight it off. But it's too late. The Markab homeworld and its colonies have been wiped out.

41 Divided Loyalties
A dying man on Mars Colony gives a Ranger a data crystal for delivery to Babylon 5. Garibaldi suggests to Sheridan, bringing Talia Winters into their conspiracy. Ivanova invites Winters to use her quarters while Winters' are being repaired. Lyta Alexander, the telepath who scanned Kosh, arrives unconscious at the Babylon 5 jumpgate. She has proof there is a traitor on Babylon 5.
She escaped from Psi Corps and hired herself out to the revolutionaries on Mars. There is a sleeper agent, code name Control on Babylon 5, and Lyta has the password which will activate the mole's sleeper programme. Garibaldi has a gut feeling that Lyta is right, and he notices Zack's Night Watch armband. Lyta is attacked when being moved by Security and goes on the run. Lyta uses Delenn as an intermediary in negotiating with Sheridan.
Ivanova admits to Sheridan that she's a latent telepath. Delenn brings Lyta to Sheridan's office. The senior staff are summoned one by one, and Lyta tries the password on each of them. All of the EarthForce officers are also tested without detecting the mole. It's Talia Winters! Luckily, she was exposed before she was brought into the conspiracy. The old 'Talia' is dead and their 'friendship' was just a ruse by the secret personality to find out what Ivanova knew.
At the end, Lyta visits Kosh. She is leaving the station but she wants to see the Vorlon one more time.

42 The Long, Twilight Struggle
Lord Refa tells Londo Molari that the war with the Narns is about to end and Londo will be the architect of the victory. Draal invites Delenn & Sheridan to visit him on Epsilon 3. The Narns are planning an attack on the Centauri supply depot at Gorash 7 with their entire fleet. While this is happening, the Centauri plan to bombard the Narn homeworld with mass drivers – outlawed weapons – which will destroy their cities.
Dr. Franklin tells G'Kar the Centauri are gathering information on his homeworld's defences. The Narns won't listen to G'Kar's warnings. Draal tells Sheridan he knows about the 'conspiracy of light' and Epsilon 3 will be at Babylon 5's disposal when the trouble starts.
The Shadows destroy the Narn fleet at Gorash 7. Londo Molari watches the assault on the Narn homeworld. G'Kar is ordered to seek sanctuary on Babylon 5. Molari announces that the Narn homeworld is now a protectorate of the Centauri Republic and G'Kar is no longer an ambassador. But he has to accept that G'Kar has sanctuary on Babylon 5. Finally, Delenn and Garibaldi introduce Sheridan to the Rangers.

43 Comes the Inquisitor
In the zocalo, G'Kar tries to tell other races that the Narn are just the first of the Centauri conquests. Kosh warns Delenn that she will face an inquisitor, who will find out if she is fit to be a member of the Army of Light. G'Kar is buying weapons. The inquisitor is Sebastian, alias Jack the Ripper. G'Kar admits what he's doing to Garibaldi, who offers help if the weapons don't go through Babylon 5.
Delenn is harassed by Sebastian. Vir apologizes to G'Kar in a lift. G'Kar has to prove his bona fides to other Narns on the station, and enlists Garibaldi's help in getting messages to and from Narn. Sebastian continues to torture Delenn until Sheridan arrives to tell him to stop. So Sebastian turns on him. Eventually, he tells Delenn and Sheridan that they have passed the test.
A message brought from Narn by the Rangers establishes G'Kar's position as a leader. Leaving, Sebastian tells Sheridan that the Vorlons found him and showed him the error of his ways. He has spent the last 400 years doing penance. And now, he is able to die.

44 The Fall of Night
Captain Sheridan is recalled from training Zeta Squadron to deal with an emergency on Babylon 5. The Centauri have invaded both Drazi and Pak'ma'ra territory. Londo Molari says they are merely trying to stabilize the region. Garibaldi warns Sheridan that there will be no talking to Molari while he remains afraid of being unable to keep pace with the momentous changes going on.
Another pilot tells Lt. Keffer about something she saw in hyperspace – a cross between a spider and your worst nightmare. Mr. Lantz of the Ministry of Peace arrives to meet the Centauri and the local members of Night Watch. A Narn warship arrives at Babylon 5, looking for help. Ivanova turns down help from Lantz.
Mitch, another pilot, gives Keffer a data crystal record of his encounter with a Shadow ship. Lantz refuses to speak to G'Kar. He has been authorized to sign a non-aggression pact with the Centauri.
Ivanova gives Sheridan a piece of wreckage from the Minbari ship Black Star as a reminder that he can do the apparently impossible. Molari demands the surrender of the Narn warship. Sheridan tells him it has sanctuary. The Centauri open fire on Babylon 5, the Narn ship is escorted to the jumpgate and the Centauri ship is destroyed. Lantz tells Sheridan the Centauri will over look the incident if he apologizes.
Escorting the Narn ship in hyperspace, Lt. Keffer detects another Shadow ship. He launches his ship's data with a beacon just before the Starfury is destroyed. Sheridan jumps off a transport tube just before a bomb explodes. Kosh saves him. Everyone else sees an angel or their civilization's equivalent, but Londo Molari sees nothing. The implication is that the Vorlons have been 'guiding' their civilizations.
Ivanova announces, in a voiceover, that all hope of peace has gone and Babylon 5 is the last best hope for victory. The Ministry of Peace is closing down shops run by the victims of allegations of sedition. And ISN plays the recording of the Shadow ship shooting at Lt. Keffer's Starfury.

45 Matters of Honor
Babylon 5 is being repaired after the shooting match with the Centauri cruiser. Under attack, a ship piloted by a Drazi launches a smaller ship, which makes it to Babylon 5. The Ranger is taken to MedLab and disappears. Londo Molari tells Morden the Centauri no longer need his help. David Endawi arrives from Earth to ask Delenn what she knows about the ship which Lt. Keffer encountered in hyperspace.
Delenn says she knows nothing to avoid letting the Shadows know that what they are doing has been spotted, but she admits to Sheridan, in private, that it is a Shadow ship. Molari tells Endawi about seeing a fleet of the ships over Centauri Prime in a dream. Delenne and Lenier meet Marcus, the Ranger, in DownBelow, where they get into a fight with thieves.
Marcus reports that the Ranger training camp on Zagros VII, a Drazi world, is being blockaded by the Centauri and he wants help to evacuate the Rangers. Morden tells Molari he is willing to separate Centauri interest and those of his principals. He draws a line on a map of the galaxy and tells Molari to keep clear of Zagros VII.
Sheridan takes charge of the White Star, a hybrid of Minbari & Vorlon technology. G'Kar tells Endawi the Shadow ships are shown in the book of G'Quan from 1,000 years before. The White Star clears the mines around Zagros VII then a Shadow ship arrives. Sheridan uses the jumpgate near the Markab homeworld to destroy it.
Endawi presents his report to Earth Dome. It is passed on to Morden and a Psi Cop. And on Babylon 5, Delenn tells Sheridan's senior staff about the Shadows.

46 Convictions
A bomb goes off in DownBelow, baffling Security as there is nothing worth destorying. A Brother Theo wants to set up a mission on the station. Delenn & Londo Molari are almost blown up, and Lenier is injured. A staff meeting concludes that they are terror bombs are aimed at people. Molari hovers at the bedside of Lenier, who saved his life. Brother Theo's monks are put on the job of checking security camera footage for gloaters.
Molari and G'Kar are trapped in a lift by another explosion. The bomber located and he lets slip that he has attached a bomb to the main fusion reactor, which is removed safely. Lenier comes round in MedLab and Molari and G'Kar are released from their lift.

47 A Day in the Strife
The transport union is causing trouble on Babylon 5 and Na'Far arrives to replace Citizen G'Kar. He wants G'Kar to stop organizing armed rebellion on the Narn homeworld. Sheridan tells him to sort it out with G'Kar. A probe of unknown design begins to transmit a code to Babylon 5. Molari tells Delenn he regrets the rift that has grown between them and he ask her to help Vir to join a diplomatic mission to Minbar, hoping he will be safe there.
Garibaldi notices that Dr. Franklin is working too much and taking stims. The probe has sent a list of questions, which must be answered within 24 hours or the station will be destroyed. G'Kar realizes that the only way to keep the Narns united is for him to return to their homeworld.
Babylon 5 gets answers to the questions with 3 minutes to go, but Sheridan prevents Ivanova from sending them. He thinks the probe is a trick designed to destroy race advanced enough to be a threat to the probe's creators. G'Kar leaves for Narn. Sheridan is stuck with the rowdy transport union problem again and Vir leaves but he doesn't want to go.

48 Passing Through Gethsemane
Lyta Alexander returns to Babylon 5 and tells Sheridan and his staff that she has visited Vorlon space, which 'creeps out' Mr. Garibaldi. Brother Theo and his monks are still learning all the names of God and making a living from a data transfer service. ISN reports the 'death of personality' of a serial killer. Dr. Franklin finds that Lyta is in curiously perfect health. Ambassador Molari fails to blackmail information on the Vorlons out of her.
Brother Edward turns out to be the mind-wiped Black Rose Killer. Someone wants vengeance on behalf of his victims and a Centauri telepath is planting hallucinations in Edward's mind to shake loose old memories. Lyta gets the location of the avenger from the Centauri's mind but Garibaldi & Co. arrive too late to save Edward.
The killer is sentenced to death of personality and Brother Theo takes him into the order. Lyta is working for Kosh, and she had been provided with gills which let her breathe methane.

49 Voices of Authority
Delenn thinks it would be a good idea to recruit as many First Ones as possible as allies in the coming war. Draal says there is useful information on Epsilon 3 and Captain Sheridan goes down to the planet to sort through it. G'Kar is curious about what Delenn and the Rangers are doing. She puts him off. Julie Musante of the Ministry of Peace arrives as Babylon 5's political officer and Commander Ivanova has to go to Epsilon 3 in his place.
Ivanova joins Draal in the matrix, in which Draal's physical body rests. She has a close encounter with the enemy, then she sees what happened at Jupiter when EarthForce One was destroyed and President Santiago was murdered, including Mr. Morden talking with the then Vice-President Clarke. Draal is able to record the encounter.
Musante tries to get personal with Sheridan but an image of Ivanova appears in Sheridan's quarters and deflects him from Musante. G'Kar tries to question Garibaldi about Ivanova's whereabouts but he gets nowhere. Ivanova and Marcus set out for Signa 957 in the White Star, looking for First Ones. Musante tells Night Watch that it is no longer appropriate for EarthForce personnel to criticize the government.
Sheridan decides to send Ivanova's recording to General Hague. Ivanova challenges the First Ones when they say 'no' and they agree to help when the trouble starts. ISN broadcasts news of a link between Clarke and President Santiago's death. There is to be an investigation and Musante is recalled. Zack Allen lets Garibaldi know he doesn't trust him while he has so much to hide. And at the end, G'Kar insists that Garibaldi learns Narn and reads the Book of G'Quan.

50 Dust to Dust
Sheridan warns a Night Watch member that he won't tolerate harassment of people who express negative opinions about President Clarke. Ivanova is warned that Bester of Psi Corps will visit Babylon 5. A crazy man is attacking people on the station. Sheridan warns his staff that they can't afford to let Bester scan them. Garibaldi suggests killing him.
Sheridan arrives at C&C as Ivanova is about to blast Bester's ship. Sheridan has recruited Minbari telepaths to protect his staff from Bester. The Centauri are bullying their way into Drazi space. Bester says he has come to Babylon 5 on the trail of a distributor of Dust, which can activate latent telepathic abilities and let a user invade someone else's mind. A telepath scanned by someone on Dust almost never recovers. Bester says the man he his hunting is planning to sell dust to alien governments as a weapon.
G'Kar buys some Dust from Lindstrom, the dealer. G'Kar takes the Dust and goes after Ambassador Molari. Meanwhile, Garibaldi and Bester question one of Babylon 5's major underground figures and learn that a shipment of Dust is due. Vir is back on Babylon 5 from Minbar. Molari tells him that his report is polically naive.
Garbaldi and his team grab the traffickers and their Dust. G'Kar invades Molari's quarters and his mind, learning very painful truths. He is contacted by G'Lan, a Narn angel who is also a Vorlon, who tells him he has the opportunity to do something great, noble and difficult. G'Kar gets 50 days in gaol when he recovers from the Dust, and he sits in his cell thinking about his Dust visions.

51 Exogenesis
In DownBelow, a creature the size of a scorpion burrows into a lurker while a man and a woman look on. Sheridan asks Ivanova to find out if newly promoted Lt. Corwin can be brought into their conspiracy. Dr. Franklin examines the body of the man who was invaded, and finds the creature. Samuel, one of Marcus's contacts, decides to stop working with him without explanation. Duncan, another of Marcus's friends, who is ill, is also invaded by a creature.
Ivanova suggests to Corwin that they should get to know each other better. He misinterprets her motive. Marcus fails to get Garibaldi interested in mysterious disappearances. Marcus and Dr. Franklin go to Duncan's quarters and they are held at gunpoint by people invaded by the creatures. Duncan tells them he is now part of a species called the Vindrizi, which can save certain people but not others.
Ivanova and Corwin don't have a date and Ivanova decides he's not suitable conspirator material. Marcus escapes from the cell after Franklin is taken to see a Vindrizi-inhabited lurker, who is ill. Security comes to rescue the prisoners while Duncan explains that the Vindrizi were created to be repositories of knowledge. The Vindrizi leaves Duncan as a gesture of trust. Franklin agrees to help but only if people near death are inhabited, as he has been told.
Duncan leaves Babylon 5. Ivanova jumps to the conclusion that some roses which Corwin 'found' outside her quarters came from Marcus and gives them to him. Marcus assumes she likes him.

52 Messages from Earth
Ivanova gets bacon and eggs for breakfast, courtesy of Marcus, while he is battling DownBelow. ISN reports new evidence on the assassination of President Santiago and a new alien threat; the Shadows. Marcus brings a female companion to MedLab and says she's at risk of assassination. G'Kar, in gaol, is writing his own book.
Marcus' companion is Dr. Mary Kirkish of IPE, who found a Shadow ship on Mars. Another alien ship completed digging up the one on Mars and Psi Corps is involved. The conclusion is that EarthGov is in league with the Shadows. Sheridan removes his EarthForce insignia and decides to take the White Star to Ganymede to destroy the Shadow ship to prevent President Clarke from gaining control of it.
On Ganymede, Delenn realizes the Shadow ship is being reactivated. Sheridan lures it into Jupiter's atmosphere, where it implodes. White Star then has to escape from Agamemnon, Sheridan's old command, upon which he refuses to fire. The encounter gives President Clarke an excuse to impose further security measures.
The Night Watch liaison man knows that Sheridan has been away for 4 days and suggests that Zack should spy on him. Zack says he won't betray a friendship and he is told to choose between friendship and his job. At the end, Clarke declares martial law on Earth.

53 Point of No Return
Ambassador Molari upsets Vir by suggesting ways to phrase his report on Minbar. Lady Morella, the late Emperor Turhan's third wife, will be visiting Babylon 5, where Earth's declaration of martial law has cause chaos. General Hague has gone into hiding after letting Captain Sheridan know that he's on his own. Night Watch is preparing for action. Garibaldi releases G'Kar from gaol.
General Smits tells Sheridan's staff that Night Watch is in charge of all off-world security. Garibaldi objects. Night Watch gives him the sack and makes Zack Allen his replacement. G'Kar tries to tell his disciple Ta'lon that the Narns must sacrifice themselves for the sake of the universe. Lady Morella is almost caught up in a riot in the Zocalo. She tells Molari that she has seen him on the Centauri throne in a vision.
Sheridan arrests the members of Night Watch and Narns take over as the station's security staff. Lady Morella tells Molari he will have 3 chances to evade his destiny, and that Vir will also become emperor. G'Kar insists on being admitted to the conspiracy. The news is that General Hague is likely to be captured soon and Babylon 5 has to be next on the list.

54 Severed Dreams
EAS Alexander, General Hague's ship, heads for Babylon 5. ISN reports that Mars has refused to implement martial law. A Minbari Ranger reports to Delenn that the Shadows are stirring up small wars. The Grey Council thinks it's not a Minbari problem. The CO of Alexander reports that General Hague is dead, ISN is about to be shut down and EarthForce is bombing Mars.
ISN goes down to an armed assault. Sheridan learns that EarthGov forces are on the way to take over at Babylon 5 and arrest the command staff. Sheridan offers the alternatives fight or surrender. His staff choose to fight. Delenn breaks the authority of the Grey Council and recruits the Religious and Worker casts to her cause. Sheridan announces that Babylon 5 is seceding from the Earth Alliance until President Clarke is overthrown.
A battle begins and the Narn defence force has to tackle troops from a breaching pod. The defenders win, barely. Then 3 more EarthForce cruisers arrive; followed by White Star and 3 Minbari cruisers. Delenn puts the EarthForce cruisers to flight.
Sheridan promises help to the Alexander as it searches for other allies. He decides not to wear his EarthForce uniform again until Clarke is defeated. Night Watch members are expelled from Babylon 5 and an uneasy peace falls on the station.

55 Ceremonies of Light and Dark
Mr. Garibaldi is trying to track down the last Night Watch members. An assassin with a good shot at Sheridan is told to wait. Delenn wants everyone to join in her rebirth ceremony. Sheridan wears his uniform for the last time at the EarthForce funeral ceremonies. Ambassador Molari gives Lord Refa the first half of a binary poison to force him to stop small wars and break off contact with Morden and the Shadows.
Boggs of Night Watch tells his men that Delenn is their target, not Sheridan, to deprive Babylon 5 of Minbari support. Garibaldi reboots the station's computer after changing the command codes, and finds that it has an unco-operative attitude. Marcus, Molari and G'Kar are not interested in rebirthing. Delenn and Lenann, the visiting captain of a Minbari ship, are abducted by Night Watch. They demand that the Minbari ships leave. Marcus goes hunting for Delenn.
Lenann is shot during an escape attempt. Marcus demolishes everyone in a bar without getting any information. Sheridan's staff assemble bits of information and conclude that the kidnappers are in Grey 14. Boggs is shot in an ambush, Delenn gets a knife in the back and Sheridan beats the Night Watch man senseless. The rebirth ceremony takes place at Delenn's bedside and the command staff give up their EarthForce uniforms in favour of new ones.

56 Sic Transit Vir
Ivanova has a dream about being naked in C&C. Vir dreams about entering a room full of angry Narns. Ambassador Molari is fighting bugs with a ceremonial sword. Vir's arranged bride, Lyndisty, arrives; to his dismay. Vir is supplying Narns with false documents. Sheridan cooks a Minbari meal for Ambassador Delenn, who tackles it diplomatically.
A Narn comes after Vir to fulfill a blood oath. Centauri records show that Vir's refugees are all dead. But Vir admits he has been falsifying records to let them disappear. Molari declares Vir's posting to Minbar void and Vir's bride is sent home to let her family think again. Ivanova decides to continue to use Vir's false authorization to save more Narns.

57 A Late Delivery from Avalon
Babylon 5 is suffering a reduction in trade and Garibaldi is held to ransom by a postal worker. A visitor arrives with a sword and calling himself Arthur, King of the Britons. Marcus gets him to MedLab. The man thinks he's needed at Babylon 5. Dr. Franklin thinks the Vorlons might be trying to preserve another legend. G'Kar joins in a fight and forms an alliance with 'Arthur'.
Sheridan wants the Non-Aligned Worlds to form an alliance and defence pact with Babylon 5. 'Arthur' turns out to be David McIntyre, a gunnery sergeant who fired the first shot in the Earth-Minbar war. Delenn plays the Lady of the Lake, accepting Arthur's sword and relieving his guilt. G'kar then takes McIntyre to Narn to help organize the resistance.

58 Ship of Tears
ISN is broadcasting again, but staffed by Quislings controlled by EarthGov. Bester of Psi Corps sends a distress call. G'Kar insists that his force of Narns, who are providing Babylon 5's security, be allowed to join Sheridan's alliance. Bester is lodged in a cell. He says he knows about President Clarke's alliance with the Shadows, who are in the way of his plan for telepaths to take over and rule Earth. He has a plan for damaging the Shadows.
Delenn tells G'Kar that if she had exposed the alliance between the Centauri and the Shadows, all of the Narn worlds would have been annihilated. Billions of Narns, rather than millions, would have died. G'Kar realizes what Ambassador Kosh meant by: "Some must be sacrificed if all are to be saved." G'Kar is admitted to the War Council.
Bester wants to destroy a ship carrying weapons components for the Shadows. The White Star goes out to tackle the job. The transport is carrying human telepaths in cryonic suspension. Dr. Franklin examines one of them in MedLab, which involves unfreezing her. She has cyberweb implants and she builds a cocoon of wiring to patch herself into the station's computer.
The telepath has an irresistible compulsion to attack Psi Corps. She is also Bester's girlfriend and she is carrying their child. The Shadows were planning to install the teleopaths in newly created ships. G'Kar realizes that all of the Narn telepaths were killed 1,000 years before because the Shadows occupied their planet and they are afraid of telepaths. Then Ivanova announces that the Shadows are attacking the Rim worlds openly.

59 Interludes and Examinations
Ivanova reports in her diary that the Shadows are attacking the non-aligned worlds at random. Dr. Franklin has become addicted to stims and he is rowing with his staff. Sheridan finds that other races will become allies only if Babylon 5 can prove that it can win a fight with the Shadows. Ambassador Molari is waiting for Adira to come aboard Babylon 5 and he is still refusing to have anything to do with Mr. Morden.
A talk with Delenn gives Sheridan an idea for fighting back. Dr. Franklin sees Garibaldi talking to Dr. Hobbs, his deputy, and he knows they are discussing his stim addiction. Franklin sees Garibaldi think about opening a file containing drug tests but choose not to do so. So Franklin admits hid addiction. Sheridan confronts Ambassador Kosh and demands action from the Vorlons. Kosh beats him up but agrees to act.
The Vorlons join in when the Shadows attack the Brakiri and put them to flight; which persuades the non-alligned worlds to sign up to Babylon 5's alliance. Adira is found poisoned. Kosh visits Sheridan in a dream as his father as Morden takes Shadows to Kosh's quarters to kill the Vorlon.
Morden persuades Molari that Lord Refa was responsible for Adira's death, and Molari turns to him for revenge. Dr. Franklin quits his job and goes walkabout to find himself again. And Kosh's ship, with his belongings aboard, takes a final plunge into a star.

60 War Without End, Part One
A Minbari opens a box, which has been in a sanctuary and sealed for 900 years, and finds a message addressed to Ambassador Sinclair. Babylon 5 detects a distress signal coming from Sector 14, where Babylon 4 disappeared. It's Ivanova's voice coming from Babylon 5! Sinclair leaves Minbar for the last time.
Delenn gathers up Sheridan and his staff, plus Sinclair, for a trip in White Star. Garibaldi reports that the temporal rift in Sector 14 is caused by a tachyon beam from Epsilon 3. Garibaldi picks up further distress calls saying that Captain Sheridan is dead and the Shadows are attacking Babylon 5. On White Star, Delenn shows a recording from the last Shadow war. Babylon 4 appears as a command station. Without it, Delenn says, they would have lost the war.
The plan is to go back in time 6 years, prevent the destruction of Babylon 4 and take the station through time. Without Babylon 4's contribution, Delenn says, the Shadows would have come out of the last war too strong and Babylon 5's destruction would be assured. A Zathras arrives from Epsilon 3 to install a homing beacon on Babylon 4.
Sinclair gets Sheridan to send Garibaldi back to Babylon 5 to save his life. Everyone puts on a time stabilizer as they approach the temporal rift. Garibaldi finds a message and explanation from Sinclair in his quarters. An explosion damages Sheridan's time stabilizer and he finds himself in Londo Molari's clutches in another time. Molari shows him smouldering remains on Centauri Prime; the Shadows' revenge.
Sinclair and his team reach Babylon 4.

61 War Without End, Part Two
Sheridan is 17 years in the future with Londo Molari. The crew of Babylon 4 are trying to regain control after the explosion Sheridan travels back to Babylon 4 then forward to Centauri Prime, where he meets an older Delenn. Molari, drunk, shows the the 'keeper' attached to his neck. He provides Delenn and Sheridan with a ship then G'Kar arrives to kill Molari to release him from the keeper's dominance.
Sheridan is pulled back in time again. Delenn tells him not to go to Za'ha'dum. Vir takes up the emperor's insignia when he finds Molari and G'Kar dead. Zathras uses a spare time stabilizer to rescue Sheridan. Babylon 4 leaps forward in time 4 years and Sheridan becomes destabilized again. Major Krantz, the commander of Babylon 4, orders an evacuation and sends out distress signals.
Delenn experiences a time flash. An older Sinclair appears; an effect of being exposed to the time field without protection. Zathras is captured by Babylon 4's crew but he is able to give Sheridan a repaired time stabilizer before he is trapped by falling wreckage. The evacuation is completed. Sinclair tells the others that he received a note from the past written by himself. Delenn adds that she also received a note. Sinclair says because of his exposure to the time field, he can go only back in time.
White Star heads back to Babylon 5 as Babylon 4, controlled by Sinclair and Zathras, goes back in time. Sinclair builds a chrysalis like the one which Delenn used for her transformation. One thousand years in the past, 2 Minbari ships find Babylon 4. Aboard is a Minbari called Valen, who tells them they have much work ahead of them.

62 Walkabout
The surviving 10 Narn warships are enlisted to Babylon 5's defence and a new Vorlon ambassador arrives, also called Kosh. Dr. Franklin has gone walkabout to find himself. The new Vorlon tries to remove a piece of the former Kosh from Lyta Alexander but there's nothing in her. Sheridan is planning to fight a Shadow ship with a telepath aboard White Star. Garibaldi chews out G'Kar when the Narn ships refuse to support White Star.
Dr. Franklin hooks up with a singer, who turns out to be on drugs. Lyta paralyzes a Shadow ship and it is destroyed. The jump engines are still regenerating when more Shadows arrive in response to a distress call. The Minbari engage them, and Narn ships with a flight of other alien ships arrive to finish off the last of the Shadows. Lyta realizes there may be a piece of Kosh in Sheridan.

63 Grey 17 Is Missing
Babylon 5 is recruiting telepaths and Captain Sheridan recalls that Dr. Franklin used to run an escape network for fugitives from Psi Corps. A worker is killed in Grey 16; Garibaldi investigates. Delenn is obliged to take over Ambassador Sinclair's position as head of the Rangers. Commander Ivanova finds Dr. Franklin in stim withdrawal and not wanting to be found again after he hands over some data.
Neroon accuses Delenn of trying to gain power by underhand means and tells her that he will stop her. Garibaldi finds a lost level between Grey 16 and Grey 17, which is inhabited by a cult, which thinks the universe is alive and trying to understand itself. Lenier tells Marcus of Neroon's intentions because Delenn has forbidden him to tell Sheridan. Marcus takes on the job of stopping Neroon, who is specially trained in killing humans.
Garibaldi finds himself trapped on Grey 16a. Neroon and Marcus begin to fight with Minbari staffs. Garibaldi finds the dead workers uniform. The leader of the cult says there is a Zarg somewhere on the level. Marcus' willingness to die for Delenn makes Neroon change his mind about killing her.
Garibaldi uses some ancient bullets from his cop grandmother's gun to kill the Zarg. He then has to explain to Sheridan where he was while Marcus was being beaten up and someone was trying to kill Delenn.

64 And the Rock Cried Out, No Hiding Place
Z Minus 14 Days Babylon 5's telepaths all have a Narn bodyguard and Ambassador Molari wants to sort out G'Kar and he forces Vir to join a plan to lure G'Kar to Centauri Prime. Minister Virini arrives with Lord Refa to settle his dispute with House Molari. One of Lord Refa's telepaths rips Molari's plan from Vir's mind. Several religious leaders visit Babylon 5; they are part of the resistance on Earth and they have information.
Z Minus 13 Days Delenn is outraged when Sheridan start thinking like the Shadows. As Reverend Dexter holds a religious ceremony on Babylon 5, Lord Refa hunts G'Kar; only to end up the prisoner himself. G'Kar retrieves a data crystal from Refa before a mob tears him to bits. Molari gives the crystal to Virini and tells him that Refa was a traitor. At the end, Delenn presents Sheridan with a fleet of new White Star class ships.

65 Shadow Dancing
Delenn tries to persuade the League of Non-Aligned Worlds to join the Army of Light. Sheridan plans a trap for the Shadows in Sector 83. Dr. Franklin is still on walkabout. Z Minus 6 Days Ivanova finds sleeping on the White Star and turns down Marcus' offer to teach her Minbari. Delenn insists on watching Sheridan sleep. Dr. Franklin is beaten up and trapped in DownBelow. White Star has to deal with a Shadow scout vessel.
Franklin starts hallucinating and sees a non-drugged-up version of himself, and gives himself a good talking-to. The Army of Light's fleet does battle with the shadows as Franklin struggles up a ladder and saves himself. The Shadows retreat after both fleets have taken heavy losses. Z Minus 4 Days Franklin wakes up in MedLab, having found himself again.
Sheridan warns everyone that the Shadows will be coming after them now. He tells Delenn and Ivanova about a dream he's been having. Franklin takes over MedLab again from a wheelchair. Delenn is watching Sheridan sleeping when Sheridan's wife, Anna, arrives at his quarters.

66 Z'ha'dum
Sheridan is amazed to find that his wife is still alive. Anna wants to take him to Za'ha'dum. G'Kar shows Ivanova some space mines, which could be used to defend Babylon 5 from the Shadows. Dr. Franklin finds that Anna Sheridan is totally human but she has some unexplained scarring on the back of her neck. Sheridan is still not convinced that the woman is his 'dead' wife.
Delenn doesn't know if the woman is really Anna and she tells Sheridan she could have been wrong when she thought that Anna would never serve the Shadows. She thought Anna had died with the crew of Icarus. Sheridan is doubtful about trusting her ever again. Ambassador Molari, who has been promoted to the Centauri emperor's advisor on planetary security, is warned to leave Babylon 5 at once.
Anna Sheridan offers no explanations but says Captain Sheridan will get the Shadows' side of the story at Za'ha'dum. She tells Sheridan that IPX followed a Shadow vessel from Mars to Za'ha'dum. The Shadows offered them a deal; stay silent about the Shadows' reawakening in return for the chance to study their technology. The spirit of the old Kosh reminds Sheridan that if he goes to Za'ha'dum, he will die.
Sheridan leaves a message for Delenn telling her not to go to Za'ha'dum. There, Sheridan meets Morden and an older man called Justin. Justin tells him that the Vorlons and the Shadows stayed behind as shepherds when the other older races left the galaxy. A war between roughtly balanced forces every 1,000 years strengthens the survivors, Justin says. But the Vorlons are cheating this time by taking races like the Minbari as allies.
Sheridan doesn't go along with the idea of evolution through conflict and gets into a gun-battle with the Shadows and their allies as Shadow vessels surround Babylon 5. Sheridan reaches a balcony overlooking a Shadow city. He orders White Star to arm its fusion bombs and crash through a dome above his head. On Babylon 5, his message to Delenn ends with Sheridan telling her that he loves her.
Kosh tells Sheridan to jump. There is an almighty explosion. At Babylon 5, the Shadow ships vanish. Through G'Kar's closing message, Lt. Corwin reports that they have lost contact with White Star. Mr. Garibaldi and his fighter are also missing.
