Blade: The Series

Blade is a Daywalker, a half-vampire hybrid, who can go out in daylight and who has made hunting down vampires his life's work. He has a base in Detroit, where Shen, his assistant, does all sorts of technical wizardry.
In this series, he is up against Marcus Van Sciver of the House of Chthon, who has persuaded the other Houses to finance his research into a treatment which, he claims, will make all vampires immune to garlic, silver and the effects of daylight, which will allow them to claim the Earth as their realm with humanity reduced to the status of walking blood-banks.
The series, a spin-off from the trio of Blade films starring Wesley Snipes, got the bullet after just 1 season.

Season 1 – 2006

01. Pilot, part 1
Blade is a black, Marvel Comics, martial arts expert, who hunts down vampires. He wipes out a Russian in a fancy uniform and follows a lead to Detroit, where there's vampire ash circulating with other street drugs. Zack, an apparent vampire wannabe is killed and Krista Starr, his twin sister, carries on investigating when the local cops can't be bothered.
She attracts Blade's attention, she's attacked by vamps, who burn up when sprayed with garlic extract, and Blade tells her to get out of town. An expert tells her that there are vampires around and Blade's mother was attacked by one just before he was born as 'a different type of vampire'. He has all their strengths and none of the weaknesses, and he lives off a synthetic serum.
Marcus Van Sciver, the head of the biggest vampire colony in North America, is trying to make vampires resistant to garlic extract. The lady won't leave town so Blade recruits her to a plan to locate the colony by bugging its head.

02. Pilot, part 2
Marcus van Sciver recognizes 'Catherine' as Krista Starr when she tries to bug him, and he tells her the world is better off without her brother. She makes a bog of shooting him and ends up his prisoner. Marcus, who can 'turn' only a limited number of people, injects her with some of his blood then tosses her off the roof of his building after telling her, "All you can do now is die."
Krista comes back to life in a body bag in a morgue. Marcus collects her and tells her life is so much better for vampires. Blade goes after him and does battle with the staff and inmates of Marcus' vampire urban ranch. Krista makes her first kill and Blade runs into Fritz, a super-vampire who's had a shot of Marcus' latest anti-garlic serum.
Blade's assistant zaps the building, giving Blade a chance to inject Krista with his own serum before he escapes. The building is abandoned when he returns. Krista finds that she can jump from one building to another. Blade catches up with her and recruits her, telling her he used to work with her brother, who was his contact in Detroit.

02. Death Goes On
Marcus van Sciver has relocated to Grand Rapids. Detective Boone, the guy Krista ate and vampirized, breaks out of his plastic bag and zaps the others in storage. In Detroit, Krista is locked up by Van Sciver's people and going crazy, but she finds a stash of Blade's serum in her shower. Blade goes to see the Rev. Carlyle, who tells him there's a vampire moving in the ash trade and gives Blade a lead.
Marcus takes Krista to dinner; food for pleasure; but she finds out the hard way that food makes her sick while she's on Marcus's serum. Marcus tells her the Blade is the bane of the 12 houses. She meets Blade outside the restaurant and he tells her he wants information on Fritz, the vampire who is now immune to garlic & silver. Krista questions him and Fritz tells her about Project Aurora.
A vampire from Prague comes over to evaluate Fritz, but he goes to a snack-house for vampires, where he is grabbed by people working for Kane, the bloke running the local vampire ash factory. So Marcus is told to send Fritz to Prague. Krista tells Marcus that all vampires should all get the vaccine if it is stable.
Marcus sends his people after Kane and ends up in a race with Blade. An ash-head questioned by Blade warns Kane, so the factory is empty, apart from the booby-trapped ash-head, when the assault team arrives. Blade & Fritz have a battle in a steel cage! Krista kills Fritz and ends up staked. Blade has to pull lots of bullets our of his carcase. And Det, Boone is eating cops in Kansas.

03. Descent
Krista was unstaked and she refused to drink blood to speed the healing process. Kane, the vampire asher, gave Blade a lead to Sands, a guy with a gambling habit and one of Marcus' failed experiments, and Blade told him to keep up the good work. The cops found a police car video of Det. Boone, Krista's vampire, in action in Kansas and a detective found a stray fang.
Krista went home and her mom immediately assumed she was in trouble! Blade asked her to get a sample of Marcus' vaccine. Then he went looking for the gambler, hoping to get a lead to the doctor who made the vaccine. The guy told Blade he'd been grabbed from a poker game and took Blade & his assistant to the now disused lab. Cue a battle and some vampires written off, and Blade got a clue.
The cops found an abandoned American Butcher site with scorched storage racks and a stray fang. Marcus' blonde took Kirsta out for a snack on guys who wouldn't be missed. Krista was almost caught trying to get some of the vaccine. Blade's assistant decided he'd found the doctor and the vampire tooth found at Boone's ambush turned to ash before the detective's eyes.

04. Bloodlines
Dr. Vonner blows his own brains out when Blade confronts him. Blade is grabbed off the street by vampire members of the Bad Bloods, a gang which took him in, only to be eaten or turned by Blade. Papa Louis thinks Blade can be redeemed.
Marcus wants to find Brian Boone, the cop whom Krista turned. Shen, Blade's assistant, tells Krista that Blade has been grabbed and he's going to torch their HQ. Krista is going to the House of Lycan; vampires who don't drink human blood, for a difficult to survive, North American Indian 'sweat lodge' style ritual. Agent Collins meets Det. Gibbs, Boone's last partner. There a book about the House of Armaya in Boone's desk.
The Bad Bloods vampires have been turned down by every House. They want a home and they plan to sell Blade to Marcus in return for admission to his house. But Blade gets away before Marcus arrives at his gaol, thanks to Shen & Krista. Chase, Marcus's stroppy blonde, & Krista have to have their blood dialysed as it reeks of death. Frederick, Chase's ex-husband, works at Lycan, and the episode closes with Krista getting her blood bath.

05. The Evil Within
Krista spends 5 hours in the blood bath; the previous record was 27 minutes; but finds out where Boone is. She admits she fought the connection because of her previous relationship with Boone; she doesn't want him dead (well, deader than being a vampire). One of the Lycans finds an empty serum bottle after Krista is interrupted while injecting herself.
Blade is tracking a pregant woman who's carrying . . . something! Boone climbs out of a coffin in Sylvan, Louisiana. He's there to meet Mr. Damek. Marcus wants Boone killed before he can do a deal with Damek and tell him that Marcus has been using his backwoods vampires as experimental animals in developing the Aurora vaccine. Chase and Krista attack, Chase zaps a vampire, thinking it's Boone. Wrong!
Charlotte, a Trueblood vampire who looks about 12, visits Marcus. Krista tells Blade the pregnant woman is called Vanessa and Marcus got her to deliver something to Vanessa. A woman with a throat wound points at a picture of a vampire to tell Det. Gibbs what attacked her. Vanessa is being held in Berlin. Blade arrives there, causes mayhem, strolls off with Vanessa and blows up the building with Chase inside it.
The Trueblood, suspicious of him, has Marcus audited. Krista works out how to get some Aurora but Marcus tracks her and tells her its effect is only temporary. So the vampires' dream of knowing sunlight is still on hold. Marcus offers Krista 2 options; join him or die.

06. Delivery
On a train 25 km from Paris, Blade asks Vanessa about Dr. Vonner, her paediatrician, who shot himself on seeing Blade coming his way. Krista's uncle turns up to drag her to hospital, where her mom needs a bone marrow transplant, which Krista says she can't provide. Chase is returned to America as a charred but still living wreck, and she needs to be transfused with about a million gallons of blood to be repaired.
Blade has a nightmare about his mom and vampires attack on the train. Vanessa sorts one of them out. Charlotte returns to question Marcus about Berlin. He says Dr. Vonner's death has slowed down the Aurora Project but he has other assets beside Vanessa. The secret of Marcus' testing programme using Damek's outcast vampires is out.
Under Paris, Vanessa tells Blade she's a surrogate mother doing it for the money. More vampires attack in the sewers on the way to a doctor Blade trusts. Kirsta zaps her assault team and rejoins Blade. The doctor finds that Vanessa is carrying a fluid rather than a baby. Krista gets the fluid after Blade has taken a sample.
Charlotte takes Marcus to a confrontation with Damek, who wants an anmesty for his House and a written confession from Marcus as insurance. Vanessa is sent into hiding and Krista, who thinks Marcus is up to something much worse than Aurora, goes home looking like she's been in a real battle. Det. Gibbs thinks he's on the trail of a monster and ignores an order to go home. And Blade burns his photograph of his pregnant mom.

07. Sacrifice
The fluid taken from Vanessa is a kilovirus; one which targets people with a specific DNA sequence. An ex-cop is killed by Blade's Bad Bloods nemesis on a gun range. Krista's mom wants to die at home. Shen & Blade infiltrate the crime scene. The dead cop knew that Blade's father was keeping him locked up and feeding him human blood.
The House doctor says that Krista is healing. She realizes that turning her mother will keep her alive. Charlotte's auditor tells her there's no sign that Marcus is diverting cash for Project Aurora to other projects, but she'll carry on investigating. Blade realizes that someone is killing people who befriended him as a child.
Blade saves one of them and realizes that his father is the next target. He has a big battle with the bad guy at the former family home then rejects his dad (the human one, not the vampire who sired him). FBI Agent Collins asks Krista's uncle about her. The uncle says that since Zack's death, Krista has been hanging out with Marcus, the town's answer to Donald Trump.
Krista steals some of Blade's serum, bites her mother and smothers her. Then one of Marcus's ladies confronts her. And Collins walks in on 2 female vampires with teeth drawn!

08. Turn of the Screw
Agent Collins finds himself in the middle of a vampire cat fight. Marcus's lady is stabbed with a silver mirror and burns up, and Krista's mother exits through a window. A wounded Blade finds most of his serum gone. Chase is in Las Vegas, trying to buy a club for Marcus. The deal goes badly; Chase tells Pureblood Alex that Marcus is underbidding to make the deal fall through and give him an excuse to get rid of her.
Blade & Shen go to the hospital and Krista asks for help in finding her mom, Lisa, who breaks into her brother's basement and eats him. Blade makes sure that Uncle Pat stays dead. Lisa heads for Marcus' building next and eats a security guard. Marcus walks in on Chase & Alex in bed and extracts Chase. Agent Collins is waiting to see Marcus when Lisa is removed from the building. Taken away in an ambulance, she attacks the crew and Krista prevents Blade from killing her.
Collins questions Marcus about Zack and Krista, and lets Marcus know he can spot lies. As a result, his boss demands his gun and tells him to stop digging. Alex turns up with $4 million to make the club deal go through and save Chase. But he walks into a trap. Marcus wants to know if he can kill a Pureblood (who's born a vampire, not someone who's been turned), and Alex ends up as a rotting mess in Marcus' lab.
Back at Blade's HQ, the serum doesn't work on Lisa and Blade writes her off.

09. Angels and Demons
Krista goes on a guilt binge in a club and she keeps seeing her dead family. Chase tells Marcus that it was Kirsta's mother who invaded his HQ in the last episode, and he send her to retrieve Krista. Blade learns that Vanessa was carrying a virus targetted on Pureblood DNA, and Marcus was never trying to make a virus to make vampires immune to sunlight.
The House of Amaya has been reinstated and the head, Damek, whose vampires Marcus used in his Aurora experiments, wants a piece of Marcus' action. Shen thinks it's a hoot that both Marcus and Blade want to kill the Purebloods. Marcus tells Krista that House C'thon is now her family and shares memories with her of how he was turned.
In 1899, Marcus and his wife set up a business in Detroit, only to be visited by protection racketeer Damek, who killed Marcus's wife and handed him over to vampire Injuns. Blade wants to break into the C'thon HQ to find Kirsta but he has to settle for Shen tapping into the data system. Charlotte is accelerating her plan against House C'thon.
FBI Agent Collins finds that Sorensen, who ordered him to stop pursuing vampires, wears a house tattoo. He hooks up with another agent, who has uncovered details of buried strange events. People who dig can disappear, she tells Collins. She also tells him about Blade, who's in Detroit.
Damek tells Marcus he wants a slice of every one of his pies. They have a huge battle in Marcus's office, destroying it, and Marcus sets fire to Damek's head and slays him. Krista tidies up the bloody wreck of Marcus and gets very pally with him, as Blade sees to his disgust while spying on them from across the street.

10. Hunters
Krista went off her Blade serum, went out hunting and ended up in a cell at Blade's HQ. He reckoned she had got too close to Marcus. Bethany approached Shen and another Chinese guy. Her sister was missing and a guy in a photograph of her had a vampire glyph tattoo.
In New Orleans, Charlotte was trying to recruit Chase, telling her survival of their world depended on maintaining the hierarchy, which Marcus wented to destroy. Shen showed the glyph to Blade, who decided it didn't belong to any of the Houses. Blade got tough in the club where the girl disappeared. Shen found the glyph in a book and pictures of people chopped up.
The missing girl was in the clutches of a monster, who came out every 19 years. Blade went after his familiar using Bethany as bait. Shen screwed up in the club and lost Bethany. Chase returned to Detroit and told Marcus that Charlotte wants her to be a spy. Marcus told her to go ahead.
Shen found the familiar and then the super-bad-guy vampire. Blade found his secret prison and did battle while Shen took on the familiar. Blade pulled the vampire's lower jaw off because he talked too much then chucked him into daylight. The sisters survived.
Chase told Charlotte, "Marcus now, Blade later." Krista kicked her cell door down but didn't escape. Blade told her she's an addict with the choice not to drink blood. Then he sent her back to spy on Marcus, who was about to move his stock of virus.

11. Monsters
Marcus put a bomb on Charlotte's LearJet, but she and her butler survived the crash. Shen and Blade were trying to track down all of Marcus's properties to find out where the vampire conclave, at which Marcus planned to release his virus on the Purebloods, would take place. Ex-agent Collins, fired from the FBI, crashed into Blade's cellar and insisted on being allowed to join in the monster hunt.
Marcus told Chase he was delivering Aurora to the conclave in Toronto as a tribute to Charlotte. Blade went looking for Charlotte's laptop and other records at the crash site and found that she'd been snacking on people who came to look at the crash. Collins told Blade about the spree killer who killed his wife and child.
Charlotte and her butler had more snacks in town and turned half a dozen people. Collins walked in a new-vampire trap. Blade saved his ass after he was stabbed in the leg. Collins cleaned up the converts while Blade went after Charlotte, who promised to make him welcome in the 12 Houses if he got her to the conclave.
Both Charlotte & her butler went up in flames. Blade had to kill Collins, who'd fallen for Charlotte's little girl act, but he died happy after getting to fight some monsters. Chase was jealous of Krista, who was wearing a pendant which Marcus had given to her. At the end, Chen made the Toronto connection.

12. Conclave
Marcus expected his conclave building in Toronto to become a landmark in vampire history. The ventilation system and the eyeball-scanning locks on the doors were all set up, Tucker told Marcus. Blade reckoned he knew someone who had a key to the building. Marcus' minions found Blade's HQ, there was a big shoot-out and Shen was captured.
Marcus told Krista to torture Shen as Blade was collecting weapons in his smoking wreckage. Shen got loose and outsmarted a big bozo of a vampire. He and Blade hooked up again as the virus cylinders were being installed in Toronto.
The Purebloods arrived. Blade used one of Tucker's eyes to get past the scanners. Marcus told the Purebloods they weren't about to become Daywalkers and released the virus. Only Chase had sabotaged the delivery system. Blade climbed about a million stairs to deliver a cylinder to the conclave room and the Purebloods became black pus.
Blade and Marcus battled with swords while Krista took on Chase. Marcus escaped with Krista, who's been cosmetically shot in the shoulder by Shen. Blade reckoned wiping out the C'thon Purebloods and Marcus getting away to climb higher in the vampire hierarchy counted as a win. Shen wasn't so sure. Shock ending to the series: Marcus knew Krista was working with Blade!!!

End of Season 1 and also end of series.
