Dexter

The series is based on 2 novels by Jeff Lindsay: Darkly Dreaming Dexter and Dearly Devoted Dexter. Dexter Morgan is a serial killer who works for Miami Dade Police Department as a forensic expert. His speciality is blood spatter. He has a sister, Debra, and a non-physical relationship with his girlfriend, Rita, who has 2 kids.
Dexter was born damaged. He is devoid of human feelings but his police officer foster father, Harry Morgan, gave him a code to live by and taught him how to fake it as a 'normal' human being. Under the code, Dexter never kills anyone who doesn't deserve it.

Season 1 – 2006

Season 2  Season 3  Season 4  Current Episode

01. Dexter
Dexter Morgan lives in Miami and he's a serial killer who helps the police to track down other killers by doing blood splatter analysis. Both his parents are dead and his foster sister, Debra, is a cop. Flashbacks through the episode, like the ones in Psych, tell how his police officer dad realized that his son has irresistible urges to kill, which explained what happened to missing pets in the area.
Someone is chopping hookers into pieces and laying the bodies out as a set of neat parcels. There's no blood so Dexter finds he can't think at the crime scene. Deb wants out of Vice and into Homicide. In his own time, Dexter tracks down killers, kills them, and saves a sample of their blood in his collection of microscope slides.
He writes off 2 killers during this pilot episode. His dad gave him the idea of killing killers to channel his urges for good, and taught him how to cover his tracks. Dexter is a sociopath who is dating a damaged woman with two young kids to appear normal-ish. She isn't interested in sex, which suits Dexter as he isn't interested in it either as he finds it embarrassing.
Deb comes up with an idea for how the hooker slicer is operating but makes a bog of telling the lady lieutenant at a meeting. Dexter spots a refrigerated truck which the slicer has stolen, and has the head of the previous kill thrown at him. The lieutenant seems to fancy Dexter and his damaged girlfriend almost comes up to boiling point.
Dexter gets home unembarrassed to find a sliced doll in his fridge. "Hey, do you want to play?" the killer is asking. "Yes, I do," is Dexter's response.

02. Crocodile
Deb Morgan, Dexter's sister, decides the stolen ice truck has to be hidden in plain sight in Miami. At court, Dexter latches on to a killer drunk driver, who gets off. Next, an undercover cop is found dead under a roadway with a piece of human flesh in his mouth. Ricky's wife is bleeding all over the carpet at home. Deb finds the truck, which contains no forensic but does contain some fingertips with painted nails sealed in a block of ice to impress Dexter.
The local Hispanic gangsters are rousted. Dexter finds the killer's blood near the assaulted woman. The Lieutenant offers the killer a deal to get at his crime family. Dexter goes after the drunk driver and finds that he has a long history of killing. Deb does a double date with her brother, who manages to stop his not-girlfriend getting fruity.
The cop-killer is killed in the lockup. Deb is moved to Homicide. Dexter adds another slide to his collection. Then he finds that the ice truck killer has removed the chopped-up doll from his fridge as a message: "Come find me!"

03. Popping Cherry
After the funeral of Ricky, the dead undercover cop, and his wife, Dexter goes to Dade prison to look at Jeremy, a released killer kid. The Ice Truck Killer strikes again, leaving the body in the goal at an ice hockey rink; Deb's first Homicide case. She gets to trawl for info on the dead hooker.
Guerrero, the gangster, gets some police harassment. Lt. Maria Languerta decides the night watchman at the stadium is the killer, she ignores Deb when she says she's wrong, so Deb goes to the captain and gets told off for jumping the chain of command. Dexter stops Jeremy from killing again and nearly becomes an alligator's lunch.
Flashbacks to Dexter & Deb visiting their foster father in hospital, where there's a killer nurse. She becomes Dexter's first human kill and Dad gains an extra year of life. Jeremy gets a second chance when Dexter learns that Jeremy's first kill was justifiable homicide. But Dexter warns him not to kill anyone who doesn't deserve it.

04. Let's give the boy a hand
A hand on a lounger on the Miami beach was just the first of body parts left for Dexter's admiration by the Ice Truck Killer, who had viewed his family photographs and was putting the bits in places shown in the photos. Dismay for Lt. Maria when they turn out to be bits of the night watchman, whom she had labelled the ITK on TV. So she had to grovel to the guy's mom.
Rita, Dexter's girlfriend, has a neighbour from Hell, whose dog kept yapping. Debs was drowned in surveilance tapes of the areas where the body parts turn up. Dexter realized that the watchman was still alive and he was being sliced up slowly. Rita kidnapped the dog and gave it a new home. Then she got physical with Dexter.
Rita gave Dexter a vital clue to where the watchman was being held. Meanwhile, James, the sergeant was done over by Guerrero's gangsters, not realizing that the rest of the squad had set him up as a target to bust Guerrero. The ITK wanted Dexter to finish the watchman off. Instead, he sent an anonymous tip to Debs and she got the credit for locating and rescuing the watchman.

05. Love American Style
The forensic guys found nothing at the Ice Truck Killer's base where Tony, the security guard, was found. A Cuban illegal at Rita's hotel was being harassed for cash by a coyote (people smuggler). She told Dexter and he went after the coyote. The Cuban's fiancé was pulled out of the sea, drowned. Debs kept locking horns with the stroppy Homicide sergeant.
Dexter got to go boozing with Angel and found that he's living a lie, too. Dexter decided that dumping Rita would be a good idea. He found another body in a flooded hold on the coyote's boat. The sergeant let Debs question Tony her way and got a lot. There was a lozenge wrapper with a partial print from the ITK in a rat's nest at his former den.
Dexter nabbed the coyote and discovered that his wife was also in on the racket. So he collected her, too, even though the unplanned double job was extremely risky. Finally, Debs gave Tony a hooker in his hospital room.

06. Return To Sender
Dexter spent most of the episode worrying about being exposed because the Ice Truck Killer had retrieved the body of woman he killed last week from the sea bed and dumped her at the people-smuggling base. Dexter was also wondering what birthdays are for as Rita, his girlfriend, manoeuvred to keep her criminal ex-husband away from their daughter's party.
The Homicide sergeant liked the missing husband for the murder. Then Dexter had to worry about a Cuban kid, who had seen him grab the wife and who was going to work with a sketch artist. Debs decided that the wife was killed by an imitator of the ITK and did a profile; which Dexter had to rubbish. Debs irritated her sergeant by being a big hit with his family at a meal.
Dexter began covering his tracks and ditched his serial killer equipment. Then he realized that the ITK wasn't mad at him for not killing the security guard and he had the means to frame the missing husband for his wife's murder, even if it blew his sister's profile out of the water. The Cuban kid produced a picture which looked like a movie version of Jesus Christ. And Dexter realized at the birthday party that his days are numbered so he'd better enjoy life while he can.

07. Circle of Friends
Dexter realized he'd seen the wounds inflicted on a dead woman before; Jeremy, to whom he'd given a second chance (24th July), did it. Debs found that the same volunteer witness had turned up at 2 Ice Truck Killer crime scenes. He ran for it when Debs & Sgt. Doakes called on him. Meanwhile, Rita's gaolbird husband, Paul, was trying to re-establish himself at the family home as a mind-game.
Debs' suspect had photos taken at the ITK crime-scenes and Neil Perry knew a lot about what had been done. Dexter didn't want to believe that suck a drek was the serial killer, whom he had admired so much. Perry stuffed road-kill and he was pathetic. The body of Perry's mom turned up buried near his trailer. Sgt. Doakes busted Jeremy before Dexter could get to him.
Debs & Angel busted Perry at a motel, where he had a woman tied to the bed. Rita got Paul to sign their divorce papers. Tony the security guard got a prosthetic foot, and the guy who made it, who was making up to Debs, looks like a good bet for the ITK.
Dexter felt a need to connect with someone after failing Jeremy. He had a chat with Jeremy, who was found dead in his cell later on; he'd killed someone who deserved it. Dexter's next mission was to connect with Perry – who didn't know him. So he couldn't be the ITK, who'd been all over Dexter's home and his life.

08. Shrink Wrap
Three high-powered women had committed suicide and Rita's ex-husband had a minder for his home visits (until he shed her). Lt. Languerta was worried that the Ice Truck Killer might let Perry take the fall and disappear. The 3 'suicide sisters' had the same therapist, so Dexter visited him; and benefitted a lot from their sessions. He even managed to do the sex thing with Rita after one of the sessions!
The lieutenant realized that Perry knew all the details of the ITK case because he'd hacked into the police computer. She took a head in a plastic bag on her next visit to Perry, whose mom died of a heart attack not murder, and freaked him out. Then she took the news that Perry wasn't the ITK to the Captain, who'd been claiming all the credit for catching Perry.
The DA was still intent on prosecuting Perry, so the lieutenant sat back and waited for the wheels to come off. Dexter told his therapist that he's a serial killer right before he accused the shrink of drugging patients and talking them into committing suicide. Then he added the guy to his collection. And yes, Dr. Hook, the prosthetics guy who's screwing Debs, really is the Ice Truck Killer!

09. Father Knows Best
Sgt. Doakes rousted a guy on the street and shot him. Angel wasn't happy with Doakes' account of the shooting, and Dexter proved he was lying. Debs wanted Dexter to meet Dr. Hook. Dexter got a message telling him his biological father was dead, even though Frank, his adoptive father, has assured him that the guy had been dead for ages. Dexter & Rita went to look at the house he'd inherited and Debs & Rudy dropped in.
Dexter recognized a tattoo on the dead man, sent blood samples from himself and the body to Miami for DNA comparison and learnt that Joe really was his father and he'd been murdered. Angel told IAD a story which supported Doakes then told the truth when he found out that Doakes had shot a harmless janitor. Paul, Rita's ex, was still being an asshole.
Doakes told the lieutenant that he'd shot a Ton Ton Macoute from Haiti, so she made the problem with IAD go away. Dexter burgled the morgue to examine Joe's body; only to find he'd been cremated. It became clear that Rudi had killed Joe. Finally, Paul burst in on Rita dead drunk, so she whacked him with a baseball bat and ran to Dexter's with the kids.

10. Seeing Red
Someone sends the Police Dept. a bottle of blood containing a key. Dexter freaks out when confronted with a hotel room saturated with 50-60 litres of blood. He has visions of something terrible happening. Paul files an assault charge against Rita and looks like making it stick.
The blood doesn't clot and it contains preservatives; it's the blood the Ice Truck Killer took from his victims. Dexter burgles Paul but freaks out again with more visions. Rudi stands Debs up to have dinner with Dexter and tell him about repressed memories. Angel doesn't get lucky in a bar; but he meets a woman who met the ITK.
Dexter solves the Paul problem by shooting him full of heroin and getting him stuck in gaol instead of killing him. The lieutenant screws the captain by reopening the ITK case when the hotel room blood is processed. Angel upsets Rudi and he's stabbed. And Dexter is seeing increasingly vivid visions of a woman being butchered in front of her kids!

11. Truth Be Told
Dexter is seeing his mother's death, and he has trouble focussing on Angel's crime scene. Angel survives Rudi's attack, but the hooker he chokes out doesn't. Debs shows up just after he's chopped her to bits, so he knocks Debs out with valium while he delivers the bits. Dexter can't find the case file on his mother's death and Camilla in the archive eventually tells him she destroyed it.
Rudi plants his body under a Xmas tree. There's a hand missing, and there's a video of the hooker made just before she was killed. The Captain puts Sgt. Doakes in charge of the case and eventually replaces the Hispanic Lt. with an female Haitian hero. Rita eventually takes her kids to see their dad in gaol so he can explain why he's there.
Angel remembers nothing of the stabbing. Dexter finds a stray spot of blood on his shirt; it's from the attacker. The video shows that the ITK has a vast freezer, so Doakes gets his team looking for domestic users with a huge power bill. Debs asks Dexter to find out what Rudi's up to because he's behaving oddly. Dexter reckons he's about to propose to her.
Dexter's mother was killed on October 3rd, 1973, which explains the 103 in the ITK's messages to him. Camilla tells to stop digging. Dexter realizes that Rudi attacked Angel and the hooker had a prosthetic arm, made by Rudi, which is why the body was missing an arm.
Rudi proposes to Debs then tells her he's the Ice Truck Killer. Dexter finds that he can't contact either Debs or Rudi; that's because Rudi has her on his boat.

12. Born Free
Rudi's plan was almost at fruition, Dexter was looking for him and Angel put Doakes & the ex-lieutenant on to Rudi. Doakes got on Dexter's case after he told the sergeant about the spot of Rudi's blood on Angel's shirt. Meanwhile, Dexter was looking for the container in which he mother had been murdered; but it was just full of banana.
Paul tried to persuade Rita that Dexter had filled him up with smack, but she wouldn't listen. The new lieutenant took over, and she turned out to be her own woman rather than the stooge the captain was looking for. Meanwhile, Debs was riding around in the boot of a stolen car with its dead owner.
Dexter found the clue he was looking for and Angel came up with another in the hospital; Rudi was a lunatic released as cured. Rudi is also Brian, Dexter's elder brother by 2 years, who was never adopted and who never had his damage limited by someone like Frank Morgan.
Rudi took Dexter prisoner; he wanted them to kill Debs together. The cops arrived as they were fighting and Rudi got away. Rudi arrived at Dexter's place after nightfall to kill Debs, but Dexter had put a dummy in the bed. He choked Rudi out and made him look like a suicide in his own killing rig.
At the end, Dexter felt cheated because he'd lost a brother who understood him, Doakes was still on his case, but he was a hero for saving Debs and freeing Miami of the Ice Truck Killer.

Season 2 – 2007

Season 1  Season 3  Season 4  Current Episode

13. It's Alive!
After a 5-minute recap of Season 1, it's 38 days since Dexter killed his brother but Sgt. Doakes is watching him, he's doing a lot of bowling and he's a little off his game all round. But Dexter knows who's next; a blind voodoo bloke, who's killing people with ricin, but he can't go though with the killing when it comes to the crunch.
Debs returns to work. Dexter's next job for the Miami police is a bloke sliced up with a machete. His mom asks Dexter to kill the killer, not knowing he can do it. Rita's kids get to visit their dad in gaol. Paul wants Rita to prove he was set up (by Dexter) as he can't hack gaol. Dexter thinks killing Little Chino, the giant of a machete killer, will make his world right.
Divers find bits of bodies in bags on the sea bed. Dexter hopes he'll be able to kill his victim the next time. Debs gets emotional & violent in a bar. Chino escapes from Dexter's killing room. Paul gets himself killed in a prison fight and Rita feels guilty because she didn't help him. And Dexter goes home to find the story of his underwater graveyard on the TV news.

14. Waiting to Exhale
Dexter broods about his double failure to kill and the uncovering of all his secrets. The press are calling him The Bay Harbour Butcher but the Ice Truck Killer might get the blame. The mother of Little Chino's victim from last week is done in. Her baby son is taken past the body, reminding Dexter of his own past and his failure to kill Chino. Rita is wasting a $5,000 insurance policy on burying Paul.
The FBI is sending star performer Frank Lundy to Miami to crack the BHB case. Chino turns himself in; he has an alibi because he got someone else to do the latest killing. Lundy doesn't think the ITK is the BHB. Dexter goes after Chino; and has to escape from a trap. Lundy turns Sgt. Doakes down when he tries to join Lundy's team. Debs scares the hell out of a street punk and gets the goods on Chino's gang.
Dexter chats to his dead brother at Paul's funeral. He traps Chino, manages to kill him this time and feeds the body to the Gulf Stream after considering lots of ways to dispose of a body. Rita confronts Dexter with Paul's shoe, Dexter admits he framed him and Rita concludes that he had heroin to feed to Paul because Dexter is a junkie!
Dexter admits having an addiction and Rita decides he has to go into rehab. Dexter decides not to evict his slobbish sister and he dumps the last trace of his brother, the ITC, in the sea to lay him to rest once and for all.

15. An Inconvenient Lie
Dexter found himself in a roomful of addicts and baled out early. Rita told him: do the whole programme or be dumped. Sgt. Doakes was still tailing Dexter and the PD was swamped with relatives of missing persons after the Lieutenant screwed up yet again. Debs joined Agent Lundy's team and decided she didn't want to be on it; but Lundy told her that her experience with the Ice Truck Killer made her valuable to his team.
Dexter should have been lying low, under his step-father's rules, but he was setting up his next target; Roger, a car salesman, who sold him an ideal car for moving bodies. Det. Finch got Dexter invoved with task force work. Having a new car sabotaged Doakes' surveillance. An English lady at the addiction meetings, Lila, saw through the bullshit from 'Bob' and recognized that Dexter has 'dark passengers'. Rita dumped Dexter when he told her he was dumping the programme.
Dexter met Roger's next victim and decided he couldn't stand idly by. A chat with Lundy in his morgue reinforced Dexter's conviction. Roger turned out to be a fluent liar and he was staked prematurely when he started psychoanalyzing Dexter.
Dexter met Sgt. Doakes at the group after he had told the other addicts about his 'dark passenger', and Doakes seemed to accept him as someone else who'd been damaged by law enforcement, so Dexter went round to Rita's place to tell her the programme was a good idea, after all.
Debra made a break-through when she realized that the bodies in the sea could be bad guys. And Rita saw Dexter with Lila going into a meeting, so stand by for her jealous rage.

16. See-Through
There was a heat wave in Miami and it was Week 3 of Agent Lundy's investigation. Rita's mom was coming for a visit and one of her kids was having nightmares about the Bay Harbour Butcher. Det. Masuka made a connection, which Dexter bust a gut to learn. Dexter visited his sponsor and found that Lila is a wacked-out sculptor, who steals things from neighbours for her junk art.
Dexter was called to a crime scene; a woman killed by her husband and Doakes saw a special ops connection. Some of the BHB's victims had been identified as killers. Debs found that another, who looked okay, was a killer. Then she picked up a guy at her gym and Dexter walked in on them.
Masuka thought that algae found with the victims would point to where the BHB parks his boat. Doakes found himself confronting his suspect; another screwed up ex-special forces guy; who committed suicide by cop rather than go to gaol.
Dexter dumped Lila as his sponsor. Lt. Maria got the Homicide gig back after Lt. Pasqual lost it, big time. Lila refused to stay dumped so Dexter showed her the bodies in the morturary; and failed to freak her out. He learnt that she doesn't think he's a monster; as his dad kept telling him; and she made him feel okay about himself. Rita's mom, in contrast, was sure he was hiding something.
A microbiologist arrived to study the algae; only to find that the mortuary had melted. The garbagemen got the blame for Dexter's sabotage of the air-conditioning system. But there was still algae on rocks used to weigh down the BHB's body bags. So Lundy's team will know where the BHB's boat is parked in a week.

17. The Dark Defender
Dexter was called to a killing at a store, where the deceased had been trying to set up a graphic novel about The Dark Defender, a good-guy character based on the Bay Harbour Butcher. In an addicts' meeting, Dexter had a vision of the guys who had chain-sawed his mom. Lila told him he needed closure on the killers and Dexter dived into the police records.
Debra told Gabriel, the guy from the gym, that she'd dated the Ice Truck Killer. He was just back from Honduras and he'd not heard of the ITC. Debra watched Agent Lundy just stop work for lunch at Dexter's marina; one of 3 which Lundy put under surveillance because of the inadequate security.
Dexter found that his mother was Harry's Morgan's informer in a cocaine deal, he'd been having an affair with her and he'd left her exposed for too long and got her killed. Lila talked Dexter into going to see the only killer who was alive and out of gaol because he had cut a deal. Sgt. Doakes found out that Lt. Maria was keeping an eye on him and she had engineered Lt. Pasqual's downfall.
Debra dumped Gabriel after reading his emails, assuming he was writing a book about her. But Agent Lundy did a check on him and found that Gabriel was an author of children's books. Lila stopped Dexter from killing the killer, then she admitted that she'd burnt down a boyfriend's house, not knowing he was inside.
Rita tried to send her mom home but she decided to sell up and move in with Rita. At the end, as he was checking his boat for traces of blood, Dexter wondered if he was the Bay Harbour Butcher or The Dark Defender, and whether he would ever have a life with no more secrets.

18. Dex, Lies, & Videotape
Dexter listens to more tapes of Det. Harry Morgan persuading his mom to dig a deeper hole for herself and unloads his problems on Lila. Debs surprises Sgt. Doakes by telling him Dexter isn't a junkie. Agent Lundy gets a witness who says he escaped from the Bay Harbour Butcher; but it's only a vigilante imitating the BHB. Lundy tells his team if they don't catch the vigilante, he's turning the whole case over to the FBI.
Dexter learns that there is unwatched surveillance footage of him checking his boat for blood, so he has to destroy it. Rita's mom invites Lila & Dexter to dinner, the evening is a success but Rita dumps Dexter after hearing a phone message from Lila. The vigilante is identified. Sgt. Doakes invades Dexter's lab, convinced he has a secret, and Dexter complains to the lieutenant, who sends him home; so Dexter gets personal with Lila and enjoys it. Then Rita phones to say she wants to talk.
The lieutenant tells Doakes he'll be kicked off the force if he harasses Dexter. The new Dexter triggers a fire alarm and zaps the compromising CCTV file. Then he learns that Olsen, the vigilante, is a killer. So Dexter chops him up and leaves a bag of bits for Lundy. Debs finds out that Dexter isn't Lundy's new go-to person instead of her; the boss just hates Masuka.
Dexter tells Rita he saw his mother killed when he was 3. Then he tells her the whole truth about Lila and stays dumped. He has a feeling he's leaving the 'old me' behind, but he doesn't know if that is a good thing.

19. That Night, A Forest Grew
Dexter is still with Lila and Rita's mom keeps telling her to get over Dexter. The Bay Harbour Butcher sends the Miami Herald a 32-page manifesto; Dexter trawled from the Internet because he wants to control the actions of FBI Agent Lundy's posse. Lt. Maria reads the Riot Act to Sgt. Doakes before Dexter is called to a murder scene. Dexter promises to cover for the lady in records, who destroyed files at Det. Harry Morgan's request.
Dexter misleads Doakes as part of a plan to get rid of him. Lila decides that having a life is a substitute for Dexter's addiction. Debs gets into Chopin because Lundy likes his music and dumps the guy from the gym. She goes off bang when she finds Lila in Dexter's shower instead of Rita. The posse deconstructs the manifesto. Lt. Maria buys Dexter's version of his stitch-up when she finds Doakes grilling an innocent man.
Rita finds that her control-freak mom was fired from her teaching job a year before because no one is ever up to her standards, so she tells mom to go home and stop running her life. Dexter provokes Doakes into attacking him in public and the Lt. puts Doakes on administrative leave pending an investigation by Internal Affairs. Debra, obviously looking for a father-figure, offers herself to Agent Lundy.
Cody, Rita's kid, invited Dexter to school to watch him read a report on Saudi Arabia. Lundy realizes that the manifesto is designed to push the posse's buttons and it was cobbled together by someone in law enforcement. And Lila turns out to be a control-freak bitch, who sets fire to her studio to get Dexter's attention away from Rita and her family.

20. Morning Comes
Debra and Lila are in a constant cat-fight and Rita wants Dexter to stay away. Lundy has augmented his team to investigate the Miami Metro cops, which gives Det. Angel the hump big-time. Lt. Maria tells Sgt. Doakes to play nice to keep his job. Dexter spots that Lila started her fire. He tells Lundy he was over-worked to explain why he screwed up on the Roderigo case (when he wanted the guy out of gaol so he could kill him.)
One of Roderigo's neighbours, the local spy, gives Debs and Angel his notebooks. Debs tells Dexter she's found an apartment so he takes up bowling again to try to get away from Lila; but she joins in. Dexter is attacked in the car park by Jiminez, the guy who killed his mother.
Dexter decides that he has to keep his guard up, embrace who he really is and kill the mother-slayer. Doakes just walks out of an interview with Lundy after getting another excuse to go after Dexter. Debs and Angel get a lead from the notebooks which proves that the killer is a Miami Metro cop.
Dexter slays Jiminez with a chainsaw while Doakes is burgling his apartment, having rejected a job opportunity set up by Lt. Maria. Doakes finds Dexter's slide collection. Dexter finds that Lila stole his key to Rita's apartment, and she set Jiminez on him to get him back, so he dumps her.

21. Resistance Is Futile
Dexter remembered he'd left Jiminez, who killed his mom, in bits in his cabin in the woods but he couldn't clean up because the Feds were tailing him. Sgt. Doakes wasn't taking calls from Lt. Maria and Debra was screwing Agent Lundy. Lundy shut the Miami cops out of his investigation; he had a suspect from their ranks. Feds took over Dexter's lab. He remembered being taken to an execution by Harry Morgan, his foster father, as part of his education.
Doakes turned up in Haiti; he wanted to use a former black-ops contact to analyze Dexter's slide collection. Lila invaded the PD and took the guys for a drink. Dexter had to go along to stop her shooting her mouth off and he realized that neither Lila nor the FBI was going to go away. He found his slides missing when he got home and assumed that Lundy had them.
Dexter was hauled to the police station to be confronted by his slides, which had been found in Doakes' car at the airport (he hadn't taken them to Haiti). The condemned man suddenly realized that Doakes was now the Bay Harbour Butcher prime suspect. Dexter got the job of processing the slides, which he turned over to the FBI techs.
Doakes phoned Lt. Maria to say he could prove his innocence. Lundy gave Doakes to the meeja and told Lt. Maria to co-operate or be fired. Rita took Dexter back. Dexter evaded his FBI protection posse to do the clean-up, only to run into Doakes at the cabin! But Dexter took him by surprised and Doakes finished the episode in a cage.

22. There's Something About Harry
Dexter went home with a bullet graze on his thigh after telling Doakes he was a better bargain for the city as a killer. He didn't think Doakes deserved to die, so what would Harry Morgan have done with him? Rita arrived with coffee the next morning; she thought the kids needed Dexter. Debra got to grill Lt. Maria over an unreported phone conversation with Doakes, and Agent Lundy told his team to bring Doakes in.
Dexter upset Debra by getting Lundy to withdraw his protection team. When he went back to the cabin, Doakes was saying something about Harry Morgan when he passed out after drinking drugged water. Dexter decided to frame him as the Bay Harbour Butcher instead of killing him. Debra got upset when Lundy let her know that their affair would end when the case ended.
A killer kept sending messages to Jiminez's phone, which Dexter had found at the cabin before Doakes could retrieve it. Lila was using Angel to keep track of Dexter. Doakes realized he didn't fit Dexter's code and he wouldn't be killed. Harry's old lieutenant told Dexter that Harry killed himself, he didn't have a heart attack.
Lt. Maria proved to Lundy that Doakes was with her during a BHB murder but he told her that her evidence was tainted. Lila bought some "roofies", which she took while she was with Angel. Doakes had to listen to Dexter writing off the killer at the cabin.
Then Dexter remembered that Harry had caught him with the body of a bad guy, who had been getting away with it, 3 days before Harry's suicide. He realized that Harry had been unable to live with what he had created and that he (Dexter) had killed his step-father.

23. Left Turn Ahead
Dexter thinks everything Harry Morgan told him is bullshit. Sgt. Doakes tells him to turn himself in but he's not going to do that. A phone call from a doctor takes Dexter to Lila in a hospital; the doctor thinks she's been raped, not knowing about the roofies. Dexter realizes that Lila is framing Angel (to get Dexter back) just as he's framing Doakes.
The weapons with Doakes' fingerprints are fished out of the sea. The FBI Deputy Director Max Adams rushes to Miami to take over. Doakes escapes from his cage, only to run into 2 dealers heading for the cabin to collect the stash of coke. Angel is busted and Hurricane Dexter feels guilty for destroying his step-father, Doakes, Angel, Agent Lundy & Lt. Maria.
Rita's car croaks so Dexter lends her his van. When he goes to the cabin again, Dexter saves Doakes from the dealers and puts him back in the cage. Dexter thinks about turning himself in and goes to tell Lila she can't have him and goodbye. Debs gets Lundy to check the files for information on Lila. There's nothing. She's using an alias.
Dexter organizes things so Debs gets control of his assets if he goes to gaol or disappears. Lt. Maria tells Lundy that Doakes was in Haiti to get the slide collection analyzed; which makes no sense if he's the Bay Harbour Butcher. Dexter takes Rita and her family for a day out on his boat, which gives Lila the chance to steal his GPS gadget. Debs finds that Lila is a visa overstayer.
Adams tells Lundy he has a lead to Doakes in the Everglades. Debs visits Lila to tell her to get out because she's set Immigration on her. Dexter feels the pressure on him being relieved and wonders how he's going to tell Debra he's the Bay Harbour Butcher. But during a meal with her, he has second thoughts about turning himself in. If Debs believes in him, he's going to ride it out. The Feds find Doakes' rental car and Lila uses the stolen GPS to find the cabin and Sgt. Doakes.

24. The British Invasion
As Sgt. Doakes tried to persuade Lila to release him, Dexter brushed off Debra and raced to the cabin. He got there after Lila had blown it up to protect Dexter. A charred body was pulled out of the swamp and identified as Doakes. A butchered body and BHB tools were also found. Dexter felt great and free and glad he hadn't turned himself in. Rita's kids caught him celebrating in their mom's bed.
Agent Lundy started wrapping the case up while still foolin' with Debra. Lundy told Lt. Maria he was satisfied that Sgt. Doakes was the Bay Harbour Butcher. Det. Masuka ran his mouth off and Dexter realized that Doakes hadn't been blown up by accident or committed suicide. This was confirmed when Dexter found his stolen GPS gadget in a bag of charred wreckage. Dexter realized that he'd created his own monster: Lila.
Debra got in the way of Dexter's plan to make Lila think he was going to run away with her, and Lila drove off with Dexter's kill kit. When Lt. Maria started collecting for Doakes' funeral, Debra realized she had a lot in common with her, having been involved with the Ice Truck Killer. Agent Lundy got a new case, so no holiday with Debra.
Lila rang the Captain to say she had information about the BHB after she had drugged Rita's babysitter and kidnapped the kids. Then Lila set fire to her apartment after trapping Dexter and the kids inside. Debra joined in the search for the kids instead of chasing after Lundy.
Dexter felt like a phoenix after escaping from the fire. Just he and Lt. Maria attended Sgt. Doakes' funeral. Dexter decided he was okay with who he was, so he caught up with Lila in Paris and started a new slide collection.

Season 3 – 2008

Season 1  Season 2  Season 4  Current Episode

25. Our Father
Dexter was still agonizing over his relationship with Harry Morgan and using Rita and her family as scaffolding to hold his facade of normality in place. His next target was a fugitive killer called Freebo, who was dealing drugs. Angel was due to be made a detective sergeant on Harry Morgan's birthday.
A woman from Internal Affairs tried to recruit Debs as a snitch, and Debs had a new hair-do. Dexter went after Freebo and ended up killing a stranger, who went at him with a knife. Shock, horror! The dead man, Oscar Prado, was the brother of a Cubano ADA and a senior cop!
Dexter didn't impress the class when Rita's son invited him to Dad Day at his school. The Cubana Lt. Maria had a long-standing relationship with the Prado family, and she got Angel to chuck Debs off the case when Debs announced, in the hearing of the cop brother, that Oscar owed Freebo a bundle and he was a junkie.
Dexter went to the Prado funeral instead of a Harry Morgan Birthday drinking session with Debs, so she got plastered with Sgt. Angel even though she resented being chucked off the Prado case. Freebo's girlfriend was Debs' next homicide case. Dexter realized that Rita's son had moved on from the death of his dad and he should do the same. Closing bombshell: Rita is pregnant!

26. Finding Freebo
Rita is definitely pregnant, so she & Dexter have to decide what to do next. Dexter keeps quiet about Debs' Jane Doe being Teegan, Freebo's girlfriend, whom he killed. The IA lady was still after Debs. Dexter was in a race with Debs to check out Teegan's apartment.
Sgt. Angel busted a guy who could blow a hole in ADA Miguel's big case. Dexter kept contemplating fatherhood and his own and Harry Morgan's failings. Debs made the Teegan-Freebo connection. Dexter found Freebo hiding at Teegan's place.
Dexter went for his kill kit but Rita dropped in to say she's staying pregnant. Dexter added Freebo to his collection then ADA Miguel arrived. Dexter told him he'd killed Freebo in self-defence. Miguel was delighted because he'd had doubts about being able to kill Freebo in cold blood. So he thanked Dexter and left him to clean up the scene.

27. The Lion Sleeps Tonight
Dexter spotted a fellow predator in the supermarket and Nathan turned out to be a paedophile with a conviction. ADA Miguel tried to get Lt. Maria to slow down the hunt for Freebo and he was being a best-mate to Dexter. There was another murder in Freebo's style – of Xavier, a pimp.
Miguel resented his father, who thought he was a failure. Dexter's 'father' had killed himself in disgust. Miguel wanted his brother Ramon to find Freebo's body; Dexter told him he couldn't let that happen as he didn't know if he'd left any incriminating trace evidence on the body.
Dexter spotted Nathan photographing kids on the beach. Miguel ignored the witness found by Sgt. Angel and went ahead with getting Mr. Hines convicted. Dexter put up missing posters where Debs would see one and had her Jane Doe identified as Freebo's girlfriend. The Miami cops assumed Freebo didn't kill Teegan, because he'd been living at her place, or Xavier.
Miguel gave Dexter his shirt with Freebo's blood on it as a gesture of good faith. Debs made peace with a snitch she'd harassed, so he made up a song calling her a puta. (Debs doesn't know any Spanish!) Dexter did Nathan in (by strangling him instead of the full ritual) to protect Rita's kids.

28. All In The Family
Dexter was staggering into marriage but Rita's kids weren't convinced, and Miguel wanted to tell Ramon that their brother's killer was dead. Meanwhile, Debs had another murder case with her partner Quinn, who played The Witness Whisperer with Fiona, whose fiance had been killed.
Rita got the sack and Lt. Maria continued to press Miguel over ignoring her witness and railroading Mr. Hines into gaol. Ramon threw a tantrum at Lt. Maria and Dexter built on it to prove to Miguel that his brother was unreliable. Dexter proved to Debs that the weepy Fiona killed her bloke and saw her as a model for being convincing.
The I.A. lady told Debs that Quinn looks out only for No. 1 and that was why he had stolen the credit for busting Fiona. Miguel decided that Ramon was unreliable and Dexter was a good substitute bro. Dexter wondered if he could play a role long enough for it to become real, and pinched Fiona's script to use on Rita and the kids as a pitch for marriage.

29. Turning Biminese
ADA Miguel took Dexter golfing to tell him about an untouchable guy who needed killing. Mig's estate agent wife wanted Dexter to sell his apartment so she could sell a bigger house to Rita. Debs was still looking for leads to Freebo and she wanted to take over Dexter's apartment. Masuko, the mad scientist, had the hump because no one wanted to be his pal.
Debs busted a gut to track down a kid, hoping for info on Freebo, but her alleged partner, Quinn, let the kid go without consulting her. Sgt. Angel was pursuing the vice cop who didn't bust him last week. Dexter had to assert himself with Rita to get a shot at his target. Lt. Raoul tried to crash a Miami Dade homicide case by building it in to one of his, but Masuko made himself a hero by telling Raoul to get lost because his case was nothing like theirs.
Rita seemed to be haviing a miscarriage while house-hunting with Mig's missus. Debs found the kid again; and he was under surveillance. Dexter did his killing on a cruise liner and heaved the body out of a porthole. There was no miscarriage but Dexter realized his freedom was up the spout and Debs got his apartment. Worse, Rita's trip to hospital blew Dexter's fishing alibi and, no doubt, Miguel has another customer for him next week.

30. Si Se Puede
Migel thought he & Dexter could make a difference so Dexter tried to put him off their alliance. The kid Debs found last time turned up dead, another victim of The Skinner. Debs wondered if the serial killer was tracking her investigation. ADA Miguel was in danger of being disbarred for playing fast & lose with the legal system, thanks to the defence lawyer who got Lt. Maria's leak about the Hines case. Debs got permission from Sgt. Angel to watch Sheriff Ramon in case he was the Skinner.
Miguel's wife recruited jobless Rita as a real estate assistant. Miguel got Gault, one of Dexter's Top 10 Targets, out of gaol as an expert witness. Angel got a not-a-date with his vice cop. Dexter & Miguel grabbed Gault but Miguel didn't get to watch Dexter kill him. Debs found that Raoul isn't the Skinner but she & Quinn busted Raoul for kidnapping, false imprisonment and torture of a suspect.
Debs told Quinn about the IAD woman; he said she had a personal vendetta against him. At the end, Dexter felt that he had a true friend in Miguel.

31. Easy As Pie
Dying Camilla eventually asks Dexter to finish her off. Ramon turns in his badge to avoid going to gaol. Angel wants to use Anton, the snitch, as bait for the Skinner. Debs gets a hard time from the dead kid Wendell's mom so she tells Anton to leave town in a hurry. Dexter's next case is a murdered college girl. Det. Masuka fingers Albert Chung from the M.O.
Chung's defence attorney is Ellen Wolf, who's been on Miguel's case about the Hines case, and Miguel decides it would be a good idea to have Wolf killed. So Dexter faces a moral dilemma. Does he kill Wolf, who isn't a killer but who puts killers back on the streets, and does he kill Camilla, who has nothing but misery ahead until she croaks.
Dexter says no to Miguel, who gets the hump. Debs deduces that the Skinner poses as a tree-trimmer to watch his victims. Anton stays put and gets pally with Debs. Miguel decides Dexter is right about Wolf and they're still pals. And Dexter decides to put Camilla out of her misery with a perfect Key Lime Pie.

32. The Damage A Man Can Do
Miguel picked Billy Fleeter, who killed people to pay off his bookie when on a losing streak, as the next target – and he wanted to do the kill. Rita was hormonal and snappy. The cops questioned tree-trimmers and found a red herring. Debs also found that Quinn didn't have Anton registered as a Criminal Informant. Dexter & Miguel stalked Fleeter.
Debs told Anton he's not a CI and not at Quinn's beck & call. Miguel screwed up on a kill run and Dexter called it off. Anton disappeared. Miguel admitted he has darkness inside him. Tree-trimmer Mario, the Nicaraguan illegal, wasn't the Skinner. The ghost of Harry Morgan waxed increasingly indignant as Dexter rewrote his Code but Miguel got to kill Fleeter after all. Debs spotted timmed trees near Anton's place. Rita approved Dexter's choice of ring. And is Miguel having it off with Ellen Wolf, the lawyer!?

33. About Last Night
Dexter feels no longer alone after killing with Miguel. Mrs. Mig thinks he's having an affair after he stayed out all night, and Mig lies to Dexter about where he was. Anton has been grabbed by the Skinner. The ghost of Harry Morgan makes a connection between Mig and Ellen Wolf. Quinn & Debs haul in 'George King', their Skinner suspect, and Dexter reads him as a killer.
Dexter realizes that Mig was out all night because he killed Wolf, so he goes digging in the graveyard for the body. Then he confronts Mig, who wants to take out King next. Dexter arranges for Wolf's body to be found to tell Mig that they have to follow the Code. Despite Lt. Maria's pleas, Mig lets King walk.
Is it Freebo's blood on the shirt he gave Dexter? Debs & Quinn hack a tree to scare information about his boss, Mr. King, out of Mario the tree-trimmer. They save a part-skinned Anton but King gets away. It's cow's blood on the shirt, Dexter finds, and Miguel has been using him.

34. Go Your Own Way
Dexter decided he couldn't kill Miguel, so he had to get Mig under his thumb. Lt. Maria found that Ellen Wolf's killer took a ring as a trophy. Dexter offered to protect Mig in return for an end to their partnership. Angel's vice cop girlfriend ended up in hospital and he got Dexter to do some forensic to ID the guy responsible.
A witness told Lt. Maria he saw a SUV (Miguel's). Dexter realized that Mig would schmooze Maria for inside info on the Wolf case, and Dexter's leverage would go bang. Anton decked Quinn for using him then told Debs to think seriously about their relationship. Mig got pally with Maria and his wife, tipped off by Rita, decided they were having an affair and chucked Mig out of their home.
Mig's office knows that Anton spent a night with Debs. Dexter invaded Mig's den and removed his trophy. Angel committed assault & battery on the guy who bashed his girlfriend but didn't kill the guy. Dexter found that Miguel has a God complex; he thinks he can do anything he likes.
Dexter warned Debs about her relationship with Anton but she might have given him up. Miguel told the Skinner that Dexter knows where Freebo is, so a chat with Dexter would lead him to the money Freebo owes him. Dexter decided he would have to go back to Option One – kill Miguel. But at the end, Freebo grabbed Dexter (not knowing that Dexter has killed Freebo)!

35. I Had A Dream
Harry Morgan's ghost told Dexter not to give up, so he emerged from the car boot fighting; and gave Det. Masuka a black eye. The cops had kidnapped him for his bachelor party. Lt. Maria realized that Miguel has a black SUV, like the one seen on the night Ellen Wolf was killed. Anton told Debs what being skinned was like. Dexter had to learn Miguel's new routine; the ADA was living in an hotel after being chucked out by Mrs. Mig.
Debs realized that the Skinner had used a payphone near where he'd held Anton and got a clue to his whereabouts. Miguel was still making up to Lt. Maria and she went looking for trace evidence in the boot of Mig's SUV; and was clumsy about it. Luckily, Dexter saw Mig get suspicious. Debs & Quinn got close to the Skinner but failed to bust him.
Wolf's hair was in Miguel's boot but Dexter persuaded Lt. Maria to hang fire. Then he found that Miguel was preparing to kill someone. So Dexter strangled Miguel so that he could blame the killing on the Skinner, and so that Debs could be his 'best man' at the famous wedding.

36. Do You Take Dexter Morgan?
The Miami police found Miguel's body dumped, partially skinned and strangled according to the Skinner's M.O. Ramon, Mig's brother, was ready to rampage. Rita lied to Dexter about his being her 3rd husband. Ramon trashed Dexter's apartment and Harry Morgan's ghost told Dexter there's only one way to handle a wounded animal. Sgt. Angel recommended Debs for her detective's shield. She continued to dig into her father's C.I. files, looking for the one he had the affair with.
Lt. Maria wanted to out Miguel as Ellen Wolf's killer but Dexter persuaded her to keep it secret for the sake of Mig's family. Angel found out about Debs and Anton, and confessed to Lt. Maria that his relationship with the vice cop got started because he thought she was a hooker. Drunk, Ramon pulled a gun on Dexter and was busted. Dexter had a chat with Ramon in gaol, found that Ramon had been busting his ass to cover up Miguel's screw-ups and removed the tension between them.
Masuko gave Quinn & Debs a tobacco factory lead to the Skinner, which was NG. George grabbed Dexter on the eve of the wedding. Lt. Maria knew about Anton but she gave Debs her shield anyway. Dexter woke up a prisoner, forgave Harry Morgan's ghost and proceeded to wind up the Skinner, starting with telling George that Freebo was dead and he wouldn't get his money and he (Dexter) was an even bigger and better killer.
Masuko came up with the right factory. Dexter freed himself just before the cavalry arrived and dropped the Skinner in front of a police car to settle his hash. Next stop, the wedding and marriage to Rita.

Season 4 – 2009

Season 1  Season 2  Season 3  Current Episode

37. Living The Dream
Dexter was sleep-deprived thanks to Harrison, the new baby, and there was an old serial killer killing women in their bath. Debs was still with Anton and looking for her father's confidential informant stroke mistress, and Lt. Maria was still having her clandestine affair with Sgt. Angel. Dexter screwed up in court and let the killer Gomez walk, so Gomez became the next target for Dexter, who hadn't killed anyone for a while.
Det. Quinn was out of his tree because it was his case. Dexter found signs of another murder at the bloodbath scene and FBI star performer Frank Lundy turned up. Sgt. Angel's latest case was someone who had killed honeymooning tourists. The Gomez kill had to be called off when Dexter fell asleep in his car and a cop rousted him.
The extra blood from the bathroom belonged to a killing from 1979. Lundy told Dexter that he was retired but still chasing the Trinity Killer, who had been at it for 30 years and who can come back to Miami, which meant that there would be 2 more killing there.
Staying awake to slay Gomez was a real struggle, and Rita phoned him in the middle of it. Dexter had to do a rush job. Then he went to sleep at the wheel of his vehicle and crashed it!

38. Remains To Be Seen
Dexter was rescued from his crash with concussion but he couldn't hang about in hospital; he needed to dump the Gomez body but he couldn't remember where it was. The Trinity killer was stalking over his next victim. Dexter retrieved his kill kit from the wreck. His hopes of a quiet day were dashed when another tourist was murdered.
Dexter saw Det. Quinn steal some cash at the crime scene. Debs harassed the husband of the 1979 bathtub killing with retired Agent Lundy looking on. Lundy upset her by telling her he was in Miami for the Trinity killer, not her.
The Lieutenant upset Sgt. Angel by taking over the Vacation Murders case because the news media were daring to mention it. Dexter came up with a suspect based on a blood sample. Then he found the Gomez body and Benny ended up in the Bay.
Back home, Dexter crawled into bed for some much needed sleep and the bloody kid started yelling again!

39. Blinded By The Light
Dexter was uncomfortable with having to be one of the guys at a backyard BBQ. Rita found out about the concussion and confiscated his car keys for a week. A neighbourhood vandal was wrecking the place and Trinty murdered his next victim. The cops were looking for Dexter's suspect for the Vacation Murders without success.
Debs took the latest Trinity case, which looked like a suicide but there had been another "suicide" at the same building 30 years before and ex-Agent Lundy turned up at the scene. Det. Quinn tried to cosy up to Dexter with tickets for the Miami Dolphins and he tried to prove that the latest "suicide" was just one of several unrelated ones.
His Neighbourhood Watch and his neighbour's security lights got in Dexter's way when he stalked his vandal suspect, the stroppy teenager Jesse. Sgt. Angel & Lt. Maria were shot at by the VM suspect and his girlfriend, who both got away. The lieutenant told Debs to forget the jumper and concentrate on the VM. Dexter told Quinn he didn't care if he's a dirty cop.
Dexter discovered that Andy, Jesse's dad, was the vandal and used a Trinity-style threat to scare him off. Then he wrecked Andy's pesky security lights and Rita saw him doing it.

40. Dex Takes A Holiday
Rita went to a wedding with the kids, leaving Dexter on his own for 3 days to find out if Zoe, a cop, killed her inconvenient husband and daughter in an alleged confrontation with Darius the dealer, now dead. Lt. Maria was getting bad press so Agent Lundy became persona no grata at Miami Metro PD. Lt. Maria wanted to report her relationship with Sgt. Angel to the brass to make it official. Anton was jealous of the amount of time Debs was spending with Lundy instead of him.
Trinity was still stalking and so was Dexter. Quinn dumped his reporter girlfriend, who had been putting the bad stuff in her paper. Dexter got the goods on Zoe. Trinity saw Lundy checking out his kill building. Officer Zoe told Dexter she knew where he lived. Lt. Maria went to Dexter for relationship advice!
Zoe staged a home invasion and broke Dexter's new mug. She ended up in his kill shop. Then Dexter had to clear up the wreckage before Rita got home. She was too stressed to care about the mug. Debs cheated on Anton with Lundy. Then both of them were shot.

41. Dirty Harry
Debs was alive but Lundy wasn't, and the detectives went after the Vacation Murderers as their prime suspect. Angel used Quinn's journalist to plant a story to get the female VM upset with her male companion. Dexter knew that Trinity had gone after Lundy and the ghost of Harry Morgan told him he needed to kill Trinity. Rita became mightily pissed off when she found that Dexter still had his apartment (which he needed to keep the mask in place), ditto Angel when he found that Lt. Maria had reported their relationship to the brass, and Debs split up with Anton.
Trinity bought a hammer to bludgeon his next victim to death. Quinn took up with his reporter again. Debs moved in with Rita and Dexter. Angel's plan worked and the Vacation Murderers were taken out of circulation. Then the boss decided to give Angel a promotion and a transfer. Rita invaded Dexter's apartment, looking for dark secrets but not finding any.
Dexter knew where Trinity would strike, but not who the victim would be. He saw the killing on the building's CCTV and managed to follow Trinity home. Shock, horror! Trinity had a wife and a family. Just like Dexter!!!

42. If I Had A Hammer
Dexter was stalking Trinity, Rita was still simmering about Dexter's apartment and Nikki, the surviving Vacation Murderer, insisted she didn't kill Lundy. Dexter processed Trinity's latest crime scene; he had to sort out Trinity before Homicide. Rita insisted on dragging Dexter to a counsellor; who proved helpful. Masuka found the killer's DNA at the crime scene along with cremation ashes.
Dexter joined in upstanding Arthur's (Trinity's) project building homes, where Arthur was using the murder-weapon hammer quite openly. Debs though about giving false testimony against Nikki but changed her mind. Lt. Maria asked for a transfer to PR to let Sgt. Angel stay in homicide, but they eventually came up with a legal manoeuvre to let both of them stay. Dexter tried buying presents for the family but Rita wanted him to talk to her.
Debs found that some of Lundy's stuff was missing and assumed that the killer had it (when Dexter had it). Dexter found that Arthur was recreating the deaths of his sister and his parents, and spotted Arthur's equivalent of his blood slides. Arthur gave Dexter the murder weapon with some building tools.
The therapist sorted things out between Dexter and Rita. Debs told Dexter she was going after Trinity for Lundy's murder. And Dexter got to build a garden shed in Miami Dolphins' colours as a place to lock away his stuff.

43. Slack Tide
An alligator with an arm in it announced the presence of yet another serial killer in Miami. Quinn's reporter was busting a gut to get at Debs through either Quinn or Dexter, who was still taking "how to look like a normal person" lessons from good old serial-killer Arthur. The dead woman was a Nicaraguan visa overstayer, who had been snapped by Mr. Farrow, a photographer with history and a firewall of lawyers.
Debs had Dexter's old apartment and Lundy's collection of Trinity evidence, and she bamboozled the Lt. into authorizing a limited investigation (limited only by Lt. Maria's ignorance of Debs' real agenda). Arthur took Dexter into the woods to kill a tree and he couldn't finish off a deer which ran in front of his vehicle.
Dexter satisfied himself that Farrow was a killer. Debs found out that digging into Harry Morgan's past wasn't a good idea. Dexter was able to shred his mother's criminal file but he kept the picture. He tried to copy Arthur by giving his kids hobbies, but that backfired when Cody expected Dad to go along on his sailing weekend.
Arthur Trinity used his tree to build a coffin. Quinn got in the way of Dexter's first pop at Farrow but Farrow ended up in the Bay at the 2nd attempt. Shock, horror! Sgt. Angel, who wasn't having a thing with Lt. Maria despite what the detective squad thought, brought in Farrow's assisant for the murders. Bummer! Dexter decided he'd killed an innocent man, which made him even more like Trinity.

44. Road Kill
Farrow's assistant was getting the credit for killing him as Dexter came to terms with his blunder. Debs made a human cremation remains connection in Trinity killings and the lieutenant spotted that more cases were involved. She decided to make a major effort on the Trinity case, to Dexter's disgust, and Debs was chucked off the case because she was one of Trinity's victims.
Trinity had finished his coffin and Dexter found that good old Arthur was going to Tampa. Assuming more killings were about to happen, Dexter found a conference there and hitched a ride with Arthur. Shock, horror! Dexter set up a kill room but Arthur tried to kill himself! Dexter saved him and he was about to unsave him, so that he (Dexter) could kill Trinity, when help arrived.
Back in Miami, Rita was getting pally with the guy teaching the kids fishing. Dexter worried that suicide might be his own solution some day. Debs got back on the Trinity case by proving she was shot by someone small, like Masuka, not Trinity. Sgt. Angel took over the Lundy case. On the way home, Dexter steered Arthur away from one of Lt. Maria's DNA checkpoints.

45. Hungry Man
Thanksgiving loomed and Dexter learnt from Jonah, Arthur Trinity's son, that his old man is a violent character and the family lives in fear of him. The PD was overloaded with criminals trapped by the DNA sweep. Debs told Dexter that Trinity didn't shoot her and Lundy. Dexter invited himself to Arthur's Thanksgiving, instead of Rita's, to push his buttons.
Debs, Masuka and Elliot, the fishing guy went to Rita's Thanksgiving and Elliot tried to get pally with Rita. Arthur's family became a war zone and Dexter went over the top in restraining Arthur, who was trying to throttle a defiant Jonah. He got home to find that the horrible kid had wrecked his shed but the blood slides were still safe.
Debs found that she had some previously unsuspected memories of Lundy's death. And at the end, Arthur called on Christine, Quinn's reporter, who's his daughter!!??

46. Lost Boys
So Christine shot Lundy for her dad? Dexter got himself a shipping container for his stuff instead of the shed, then he failed to stop Arthur from kidnapping Scott, a 10-year-old boy. Dexter realized that there were 4 killings in the cycle, not 3, when he found lots of missing children reports where there had been Trinity killings. Debs got Sgt. Angel to watch her do an interview with Christine, and they decided she was lying about how she got to the Lundy crime scene.
Dexter haunted building sites and empty houses. Arthur was too busy to bother with Christine. Debs got Quinn to provide Christine's toothbrush for DNA analysis and Masuka found she was related to Trinity. Dexter eventually found the bomb shelter where Trinity had held Scott.
Christine eventually got to tell her dad she knew that he's a killer and she'd killed Lundy for him. Dexter saved the kid when Arthur tried to bury him alive in cement, but Arthur got away. Christine was busted.

47. Hello, Dexter Morgan
Dexter realized that Christine was Arthur's daughter and decided he had to point the police in the wrong direction so that he could take out Trinity. He told Arthur to give him $50K or he'd be exposed as a paedophile. The Deputy Chief got some CCTV evidence of them necking and told Angel & Lt. Maria he was going to bust them for perjury about their relationship.
Arthur went looking for Kyle Butlers (Dexter's alias) and killed one. Dexter set a trap but it didn't work. Christine lawyered up when confronted with her collection of postcards from Trinity's kill cities. Rita wanted to talk about Elliot, the neighbour who'd kissed her. Dexter eventually slugged Elliot to settle things. Sgt. Angel had to release Christine; hoping she'd go to Trinity, but Arthur told her to get lost.
Angel and Lt. Maria got married to outflank the deputy chief. Dexter killed a trucker who deserved it and planted evidence on him to make him look like Trinity. Christine admitted to Debs that she shot Lundy (and Debs) then she shot herself. Dexter stopped hunting Trinity to be a brother to Debs and Arthur tracked him down to his office at Miami Metro PD.

48. The Getaway
Arthur assumed that Dexter was a corrupt cop trying to extort 50 grand from a killer. Debs wasn't convinced that Stan the Man, the trucker framed by Dexter, was Trinity. Dexter took Arthur prisoner but he was busted for a traffic incident by the sheriff's dept. Sgt. Angel found out about Trinity's killing 10-year-old boys and Debs discovered that Dexter is the late Ice Truck Killer's brother.
By the time Rita picked up Dexter at the sheriff's dept., Arthur was gone, but the $50K that Dexter had stashed was still stashed. Debs asked the Deputy Chief about Dexter and he told her to keep what she knew to herself. Arthur went after Dexter, who parked the kids on the grandparents and sent Rita and the baby out of town.
Debs grilled Scott, Arthur's victim, and the PD found another 10-year-old boy under a patio at one of Arthur's building projects. SWAT burst in at Arthur's while Dexter was there but he got away with it. Debs told Dexter he's the ITC's brother but she was happy to have him in her life. The Feds grabbed the Trinity case from Miami Metro PD.
Trinity fled in his son's car but Dexter sabotaged it and Arthur ended up at the bottom of the Bay. But when Dexter got home, he found the baby in a huge puddle of blood and Rita dead in the bathtub.
