The Invisible Man

Invisible Man Darien FawkesDarien Fawkes is a thief and conman. His scientist brother, Kevin, has developed a gland which excretes "Quicksilver"; a substance which turns its owner invisible. Unfortunately, the gland also has the side effect of sending the owner berserk if he/she fails to receive regular injections of a counter-agent.
Faced with life imprisonment under California's 'three-strikes and you got to gaol forever' law, Darien agrees to have the gland implanted in his head as an alternative to gaol. Terrorists kill Kevin, which means that no one knows how to remove the gland without killing Darien. A US government agency known only as "The Agency" sponsored Kevin's research, and it offers Darien a deal – if he works for them, he gets injections of the counter-agent and stays sane. So, using his powers of invisibility, Darien has to tackle spies, and other criminals, to protect the American way of life.

Season 1 – 2000/2001

01. Pilot (part 1)
An old man collapses when Darien Fawkes, burglar and eponymous hero, he blows his safe. Fawkes makes the mistake of giving him CPR and finds himself on trial as a molester! His mad-scientist brother, Kevin, gets Darien out of gaol and implants what looks like a bleached, sawn-off Goa'uld symbiote into his head. The synthetic gland secretes 'Quicksilver', which covers Fawkes' body and clothing (and his watch) and renders him invisible. The gland also gives him headaches and makes him paranoid if he is not injected with a stabilizing counter-agent. Of course, there is an infiltrator, Arnaud DeFehrn, in Kevin's lab, everything gets shot up (including Kevin) and destroyed, and the Arnaud escapes with a computer chip containing all Kevin's secrets. Darien turns to his girlfriend, Casey, who won't believe he can make himself invisible. He then falls into the clutches of 'The Official' (and his assistant, Eberts), who tells Darien he will have to go to Mexico and steal Arnaud's research if he ever wants to have the gland removed from his head.

02. Pilot (part 2)
Darien Fawkes heads for Mexico in pursuit of Arnaud, his brother's killer, and he is teamed with Bobby (Psycho Bob) Hawkes, a burned-out agent. Arnaud has swallowed the computer chip and his stomach acids have destroyed the secret data on it. He has also kidnapped Casey, which short-circuit's Darien's plan to kill him before he goes permanently Quicksilver mad. Arnaud offered Darien the counter-agent but he rescues Casey and blows everything up. The Official meets Darien at Kevin's grave and tells him The Agency has recovered enough of the counter-agent to make more. Reluctantly, Darien agrees to work for the Agency. And Arnaud isn't necessarily dead, even though he was blown up comprehensively.

03. The Catevari
Darien Fawkes and Psycho Bob hunt down another of The Agency's experiments; the Catevari, who has been fed a brain-busting poison in small doses until he can kill someone just by touching them. After breaking out of a federal loony bin, the Catevari goes after The Official, whose life Darien saves using the freezing properties of Quicksilver. Darien sees the Catavari as another victim of the government's experiments, someone else whose life has been ruined, and he has no problem about letting him escape. But Psycho Bob, ever the good civil servant, has no problem about killing the Catevari.

04. Ralph
An autistic 8-year-old called Jessica witnesses the assasination of a gang boss/politician from Turkmenistan. As she speaks only to her invisible friend Ralph, Darien Fawkes has to play the part of Ralph to find out what she knows. The assassin is a rogue CIA agent (who later joined the FBI), whose team were murdered by the dead man. Darien finds that emotions get in the way of Quicksilvering and Psycho Bob is no help. Eventually, Darien takes a bullet for Jessica (in his flak jacket) before being taking out the assassin in a Quicksilver rage. And then, with Darien's help, Jessica becomes more communicative and she no longer needs Ralph.

05. Tiresias
The Official offers The Agency's services to an auditor to avoid a trawl through his books. Darien and Psycho Bob are sent to investige the suicide of a woman who had consulted a blind psychic (the tiresias). The psychic was telling people to kill themselves before they killed someone else, and the woman had killed herself to save her family. The psychic tells Darien not to let the evil inside destroy him and he predicts that Darien will kill Psycho Bob, who proves that it was the psychic's daughter who burned down a house to kill the occupants and make a prediction come true. The Keeper is messing about with the counter-agent and she is unable to top Darien up. But she arrives with a fresh supply just as Darien is about to write off Bob in a Quicksilver rage. The Keeper provides Darien with his snake tattoo (ouroboros), which shows when he needs more counter-agent. And in the end, the tiresias warns Darien that he definitely will kill Psycho Bob one day.

06. Impetus
Darien Fawkes spies on The Keeper, thinking she has received a report saying he is about to croak. But The Keeper has another patient, Gloria, who looks about 80 but is really 35. She received a virus, brewed up by the Keeper, and her disease is highly contagious. The general in charge of the programme wants Gloria dead. Darien helps her to escape (not knowing how contagious she is). She bites Darien, causing rapid ageing, when he is told the truth and tries to bring her in. An antidote, which has never worked on Gloria, does work on an ancient Darien. An infiltrator working for the general, Callum, has been giving Gloria a placebo. But in the end, Gloria gets the right antidote, she is reunited with her family after a gap of 10 years and Callum is used to trick the general into making a confession.

07. The Devil You Know
The Official lends Darien Fawkes to the FBI but Darien ends up in big trouble after an operation to rescue a kidnapped CEO goes horribly wrong; the beach house containing the CEO and the kidnappers blows up. The Official is sacked and then charged with murder. Luke Lawson, the new boss of The Agency, has plans for Darien, he can push Psycho Bob's buttons and he moves the Keeper out of Darien' loop. Bob discovers that the kidnapping was a fake, Lawson was involved in the plan and the 'dead' CEO is still alive and planning to extort money from his board of directors. Lawson wants Darien to be an assassin, so Darien and Psycho Bob get rid of him and the previous Official (Charles Borden) is reinstated.

08. Liberty & Larceny
The Agency's accountants start harassing Darien Fawkes, telling him not to go invisible except on company business. Then Liz Morgan steps out of his criminal past with a $400K job offer. A major criminal wants Darien to steal the FBI's evidence on him (he also wants to use information in the files to kill a government witness against him). Psycho Bob is watching Darien and he busts his colleague after he pulls off the burglary. Bob has a shoot-out with a protected federal witness, who lead him to the bad guy's home. So Bob arrests everyone in sight; except Liz, who gets away with the contents of the bad guy's safe.

09. The Value of Secrets
The NSA has paid Dr. Kate Easton of a think tank, the Mayer Foundation, to build a Quantum Computer (QC). The QC is stolen and Darien Fawkes and Psycho Bob are sent to investigate the theft. They can't be told what had been stolen on security grounds but they soon find out. Kate, who looks on the QC as her personal property, reckons it could work out how to remove the Quicksilver gland from Darien with The Keeper's help. Enter her boss, Callahan, and his goons to grab the QC. Callahan reckons the QC could be used to destroy the world, but he falls to his death from a great height along with the QC, which is destroyed. So Darien remains stuck with the Quicksilver gland in his head and Kate heads off to England and a new research project.

10. Separation Anxiety
Psycho Bob is arrested as a stalker while following his ex-wife, Vivian. He is also tagging her boyfriend, Brock, thinking he's a crook. Only Brock is a Naval Investigations undercover agent, who is 'stealing' a new weapon to trap an arms dealer. So Brock has to team up with Darien and Bob to complete the job. Bob takes a bullet (just a graze) for his rival for Vivian's affections and he admits that Vivian has found herself an okay guy..

11. It Hurts When You Do This
Sloppiness by Darien Fawkes on a mission leaves Psycho Bob in hospital with short-term memory loss after a fall. He has a female room-mate, Sarah, and he thinks he's on an undercover mission. The Keeper gets a neurosurgeon to take a look at Bob and Bob sees him experimenting with derelicts; harvesting cells from their brains for use in experiments to regenerate brain tissue. Sarah is also harvested and she ends up zombified. So Darien makes the doctor return the stored cells to the original 'donors'. But they are one sample short and Sarah remains zombified. The neurosurgeon tries to run for it but he takes a high dive onto a car and suffers brain damage. And The Keeper is able to use cells from his brain to bring Sarah back to life.

12. The Other Invisible Man
A mysterious, invisible intruder batters The Official. Darien Fawkes is the obvious suspect but Ebert realizes there was another Invisible Man. Simon Cole, a CIA assassin, was the first intelligence agent to host Kevin Fawkes' Quicksilver gland and he became permanently invisible. But The Official knows he's dead because he shot Cole, and he reveals this vital information from his hospital bed. The Keeper works out that RNA from Cole is leaking out of the gland in Darien's head and taking Darien over when he's asleep. So it was Darien who beat up The Offical. So the Keeper gives Darien an injectioon to break down the RNA and battered The Official slugged Darien as some pay-back.

13. Reunion
Darien Fawkes returns to his home town because his dead brother is running around there. Both the family doctor and his Aunt Celia have seen Kevin. The Official used to know Fawkes' uncle (now deceased), and the uncle created the Quicksilver gland. Kevin's grave is empty but he is still dead. Arnaud is pretending to be Kevin while chasing some lost research notes made by Darien's uncle. Arnaud gets away, but without the notes, and the Keeper decides they will be of no help in removing the gland from Fawkes.

14. Cat & Mouse
Fiendish Orientals have tried and failed to make their own Invisible Man so the Chinese government decides to steal the American one. Only they go after Psycho Bob by mistake. And the CIA is also trying to take over the Agency's 'weapon'. Darien and Bob go into hiding but Bob won't stay hidden and he eventually 'dies' in a car crash. The Chinese capture him while he is watching his own funeral and lure Darien into a trap at the Chinese embassy. Darien gets romantically involved out with the hitman's girlfriend, who helps him to cope with his blindness, and he figures out that the killer zapped his target's father, intending to take out the real target, the son, at the funeral. But Darien, overcome with Quicksilver madness, chucks the killer off a roof.

16. Ghost of a Chance
The CIA finally gets its hands on Darien Fawkes and he is sent to South American to play a ghost and frighten the president of Santa Ruego. The plan is supposed to prevent him from deploying the Biox chemical weapon system; only the president is being haunted by someone else! By Allianora, a genetically modified woman who can spew out enough water to drown someone while kissing him! She tells Darien that a secret organization modified her so that she can breathe in water and expel it under high pressure. Darien feels attracted to another 'freak' but he does his job, driving Allianora away and making sure that the vote goes the right way. Before she departs, Allianora lets Darien know that her sinister organization will be watching him.

17. Flowers for Hobbes
Someone has robbed the Nobel Sperm Bank and Darien Fawkes and 'Psycho Bob' Hobbs are given the job of getting the stuff back. A doctor is trying to isolate the genes responsible for intelligence and put them into a retrovirus to 'make people smart'. Bobby Hobbs is exposed to the virus. Of four others injected, one blows herself up and the other three end up autistic to the max. Hobbis is now enough of a genius to create a cure for the virus but he prefers to live smart for a short time than live dumb for decades. So Darien injects himself with the retrovirus to force super-smart Psycho Bob to come up with the cure to save him.
The episode title is an acknowledgement that this is a rip-off of the award-winning science fiction story "Flowers for Algernon."

18. Perchance to Dream
The FBI is investigating a series of killings, in which the murderer has no connection with the victim. A mad scientist running a research project into insomnia is using a gadget to program his test subjects to become assassins, and The Keeper is involved in the project! She faces the prospect of going insane if she fails to complete her assassination. But Darien and Psycho Bob catch up with the bad guy and they fake killing The Keeper's target as a way of 'de-programming' her before she goes completely nuts.

19. Frozen in Time
Dr. Kate Easton, the quantum computer lady from Episode #9, pops back into Darien's life, and so does Allianora, the GM lady who can drown people by kissing them. Her associates from the secret organization are kidnapping scientists and useful people, and putting them into cryonic suspension because they expect some unspecified catastrophe to happen. The Agency takes Allianora prisoner but she refuses to co-operate. So Darien does a deal with her; if he betrays The Agency and helps her to escape, she has to betray her people and help him to rescue Kate. Darien ends up going into cryogenic suspension when Allianora double-crosses him but he escapes, using his invisibility, and rescues Kate. But the warehouse containing the cryo-gear and the other prisoners is empty when Darien returns with the cavalry.

20. Diseased
Darien Fawkes and Psycho Bob have another run-in with Arnaud, who escapes by using a smoke canister which also contains a killer flu virus. Arnaud was hoping to whip the Quicksilver gland out of Darien's head but the virus attacks the gland and makes it cover Darien with smelly Sick-silver! The Agency sends Darien to a high-security hospital, to which Arnaud happens to have free access! Arnaud realizes that he will have to kidnap The Keeper and make cure Darien before he can harvest the gland from Darien's head. But Darien escapes, goes Quicksilver mad and fights Arnaud off. The Keeper manages to stop him killing Arnaud and the bad guy escapes to fight another day.

21. The Lesser Evil
Allianora, alias 'Aquawoman' from episodes #16 & 19, returns to tell Darien Fawkes that The Agency is secretly planning to give his Quicksilver gland to someone else; which would involve killing him. She wants him to join her organization (Chrysalis). Darien finds that she has genuine Agency files, and he and Psycho Bob see the alleged next recipient run down, but The Official tells them Plan Beta was actually about moving the gland to Darien from its previous host. Darien tries to get information from the computer at Chrysalis but he is caught in a trap as Chrysalis is really after his Quicksilver gland. So enter Psycho Bob to save Darien, with some help from Allianora, and trash the Chrysalis office building.

22. Money for Nothing (1)
Budget cuts for The Agency inspired The Official into taking The Keeper, Darien and Psycho Bob on a trip to Mexico to rip off Arnaud's casino for working cash. The plan works well at first, but Darien decides to strolled off with $5million and The Official tells him there'll be no more counter-agent until he surrenders over the cash. Darien denies having the money. Arnaud offered to sell him the recipe for counter-agent but disappears. Becoming red-eyed with Quicksilver madness, and The Official's mean guys on his trail (replacements for Psycho Bob), Darien talks to Arnaud's brother in prison. The brother sends Darien to a doctor, whom Arnaud was consulting. Psycho Bob tracks down his partner using infra-red goggles and Darien, now completely Quicksilver mad, offers him a partnership and a share of the cash. Part 1 ends with Hobbes considering the tempting offer.

23. Money for Nothing (2)
Darien Fawkes, in Stage 5 Quicksilver overload, he evades the bad guys sent after him by The Official. Darien is obsessed with finding Arnaud and Psycho Bob's main job is to stop him killing bystanders. Darien meets a brain surgeon, Dr. Reynolds, who is developing another Quicksilver gland with Arnaud, whose implant is malfunctioning and giving him a sun-like glow instead of turning him invisible. Darien sorts out a rogue cyclist and beats up a mime. Arnaud wants to put Darien in a PET scanner so that his brain surgeon can work out what adjustments need to be made to Arnaud's gland to make it work properly. He offers Hobbes some counteragent, Hobbes captures Darien, Dr. Reynolds adjusts Arnaud's gland then there is a battle of invisible men before the counteragent takes effect. Of course, Arnaud escapes but he has a serious complaint. Dr. Reynolds botched the job and Arnaud is now permanently invisible!

24. It's a Small World
Darien Fawkes and Bobby Hobbes photograph a politician taking a bung from Allianora, proving that a leak from Chrysalis is legit. 'Aquawoman' gets personal with Darien, seeking information and invisible sex. The contact is killed the next day by a Chrysalis ambush. The Keeper discovers that Darien is hosting sexually-transmitted nantobots, which act like an internal bug and feed everything he sees and heads to Chrysalis. The Official has Darien 'killed' and fitted with a blocking helmet. Chrysalis is planning to give the virus to kids of top people at their school. The helmet is destroyed and Darien lures the Chrysalis team to the swimming pool. He uses a pair of goggles to prevent them from tracking him by seeing what he sees. One of the bad guys tried to drown Darien but Allianora rescues him. So her boss shoots her and she croaks in Darien's arms. The counteragent for the nanobods is destroyed but The Keeper is able to use samples from Allianora's body to make a cure for a terminally miserable Darien.

Season 2 – 2001-2002

25. Legends
The Agency has been sacked by Fish & Game and adopted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, so Darien, Hobbes and The Keeper head for a reservation to investigate two murders. The Keeper finds footprints 2½ feet long belonging to an 800 lb creature. Hobbes starts thinking 'Big Foot'. The creature is invisible and there is an armed and dangerous bloke hunting it, using infrared goggles, because such a creature killed his wife. Darien's Quicksilver gland is based on a corresponsing gland in sasquatch. The (male) creature thinks Darien belongs to its species; but the hunter blows both the monster and himself to blown to bits when it turns up to mate with Darien (who has an XX Quicksilver gland). The Official denies that Big Foot was ever anything to do with the Quicksilver project. And there's still at least one invisible creature roaming around in the woods.

26. The Camp
The Agency has a new sponsor (the Department of Human Services) and a new, pushy female agent; Quintuple-A rated Alex Munro. She knows everything about everyone but she has a somewhat grubby record, hence her assignment to The Agency. Babies born via the Stork Fertility Agency are being stolen and Monro wants the Agency to investigate. She and Darien discover that Chrysalis has a whole summer camp full of stolen babies and older kids; and Monro thought one of them is her stolen kid! She triggers an alarm, Chrysalis arms the kids and so Darien makes Stark, the head of Chrysalis, come to the site to get the kids to lay down their guns. Darien let Stark go and he reckons the mothers of the stolen children are being used as human incubators. Munro's kid is not at the camp, so she decides to stay on at the Agency.

27. The Importance of Being Eberts
Darien Fawkes and Bobby Hobbes chase a hacker, who is trying to break into The Agency's computer. Eberts, the boss's assistant, joins them as a computer expert. The Official is threatening to close The Agency if they fail to find the hacker. Hobbes thinks Eberts was the leak and his behaviour becomes increasingly strange; including ignoring The Official when he says, "Shut up, Eberts!" Then Darien and Bobby find the real Eberts tied up. Permanently invisible Arnaud has been running around disguised as Eberts; he has made a lifelike mask; and trying to steal files from The Keeper's PC. And, of course, Arnaud gets away in the end.

28. Johnny Apocalypse
Agent Alex Monro takes Darien Fawkes and Psycho Bobby on what could be a suicide mission. A kid called Adam has been injected with a virus by East Germans and he will release a plague (an Ebola-like retrovirus) on reaching puberty; like, at any minute. Chrysalis wants the kid for its own devious purposes and the US government is planning to park him at a secret underground lab and incinerate him. So Darien sneaks the kid out and stashs him with Eberts. Then he steals a cryogenic pod from Chrysalis so that The Agency can freeze the kid until a cure for his condition can be found.

29. Going Postal
Psycho Bobby Hobbes starts shooting while working undercover with Darien Fawkes and Alex Monro. They are working undercover in the US Postal Service's dead letter office, trying to find thieves so that the Agency can get free post for a year. Hobbes went berserk after opening an envelope containing a card which played 'Jingle Bells'. The Agency sets a shrink on them so lots of flash-backs in black and white. Darien works out that there is something wrong with the card, and his case if proven when Eberts also goes nuts after opening the card. It turns out that the musical Xmas card was laced with a halucinogen and addressed to a politician by Captain Chaos, an anti-establishment protester. So all of the berserkers are declared fit for duty again.

30. Brother's Keeper
Darien Fawkes goes Quicksilver mad when an operation flops and he's not happy about it. He believes that having some of his dead brother's memory RNA injected into him could give him access to Kevin's memories (as happened in Episode #12, The Other Invisible Man) and tell Darien how to remove the gland. The Official says no, but Darien gets the Keeper to inject some laboratory samples found by Eberts. The process seems to work, Darien becomes Kevin but the samples predate his work on the gland. 'Kevin' and Bobby Hobbes locate Dr. Elizabeth Rindell, who put the second gland in Arnaud, who kidnaps 'Kevin', who fakes Quicksilver madness, knowing that the counteragent will bring back Darien. Arnaud is defenestrated, which lets him escape! 'Kevin' and Hobbes find a laptop containing information on the gland, but when they bring 'Kevin' back, he says his brother is doing a good job and he won't to tell them how to remove the gland. And he gives Darien/himself an injection to destroy the only available RNA.

31. Insensate
Tommy Walker, alias the actor formerly known as Quark in Deep Space 9 [and also Buffy's headmaster], has been deprived of his senses (except touch) – like Tommy in The Who's Quadrophenia. He has a gadget which lets him 'see' Darien Fawkes when he is invisible. Darien believes that Tommy, who looked like one of Count Dracula's empties, has been experimented on by his brother, Kevin, and busts Tommy out of a hospital. Only Tommy is really Kevin's partner and evil genius Augustin Gaither, who blew away most of his own senses doing illegal experiments for the Secret Weapons Research Branch and drove himself insane. The SWRB blows up the safe house where Darien and Tommy are hiding (but everyone gets out okay) and Tommy won't admit he's Gaither, so he is no help as far as removing the invisibility gland is concerned. There is a possibility, however, that he could be restored to sanity.

32. Den of Thieves
Darien Fawkes goes undercover with terrorists working for the criminal mastermind Javier, who is assembling the bits of an EM pulse generator. Darien ends up stuck in gaol with Dante, one of the gang, and he is ordered to get information from Dante. Eventually, he gets to stage a gaolbreak. Meanwhile, Alex Monro pretends to be Javier's girlfriend but all she and Hobbes find is a dud bomb. Javier wants to take out the air traffic control system and Darien has to drive the van containing the real electromagnetic pulse generator, off a pier into the sea! The gang is rolled up but Javier gets away, of course.

33. Bad Chi
Darien Fawkes takes a bad back to a lady acupuncturist, Dr. Charlene Jay, even though The Official has refused to pay for any treatment. Dr. Jay sees Darien go invisible. Then she puts some radio-controlled needles where they can cause pain and forces Darien to steal some ancient needles from a museum. Meanwhile, the Agency is putting various plans into operation to find Darien, with little success. Dr. Jay's teacher has cancer and the needles didn't work. So Dr. Jay tells Darien she wants him to kill their original owner, a millionaire. He stole the needles and gave them 'bad chi', which will go away if he is killed; but Dr. Jay can't do that job without getting 'bad chi' herself. So Darien lets himself go Quicksilver mad to counter the effect of Dr. Jay's needles and Alex Monro and Bobby Hobbes do a bit of kung fu with Charlene.

34. Flash to Bang
Darien Fawkes is struck by lightning and loses his memory while trying to prevent Chrysalis from testing a stolen laser. He wakes up in hospital with Stark, the head of Chrysalis, pretending to work for the CIA and queueing up to collect Darien. Bobby Hobbes & Co. start shooting in the car park and Darien takes off after he finds that he can turn himself invisible. Darien is eventually kidnapped by the permanently invisible Arnaud, pretended to be Kevin Fawkes. Arnaud tells Darien he needs his help to bust a third brother, Johnny, out of gaol. Johnny turns out to be Huiclov, Arnaud's brother. Darien gets his memory back, he captures Arnaud then everything goes pear shaped when Quicksilver madness overtakes him. Bobby Hobbes gives Darien a shot of counter-agent and Chrysalis recruits Arnaud, promising him a chance to become visible again if he helps them to kill Darien Fawkes.

35. Germ Theory
Darien Fawkes' fingers go permanently invisible when he messes with The Keeper's new counter-agent brew. She reckons that bacteria are making Quicksilver and turning bits of Darien invisible randomly. Then The Keeper catches the infection and starts going invisible! Then she goes Quicksilver mad and attacks The Official, infecting him, too! Darien also goes Quicksilver mad because his tattoo is on an invisible arm. When Bobby Hobbes is also infected, The Official confiscates all of the antibiotics to force The Keeper to work on a cure. Hobbes buddies up to Eberts and introduced him to disgusting fast food. Lab rats with the infection croak, The Official's head goes invisible and he invoked Protocol 34 before going Quicksilver mad. With The Agency's building surrounded and about to be torched, The Keeper discovers that Hobbes is free of the infection. He has eaten a sandwich containing in fast-food mayo which has killed off the Quicksilver bacteria. So all everyone else has to do to be cured is eat the bacteria-laden mayo and suffer the consequent food poisoning!

36. The Choice
The Agency invades a Chrysalis baby ranch and Alex Munro's kid is among those rescued. Only he turns out to be the biological child of the Starks (he's the boss of Chrysalis) and Munro was used as a human incubator. Darien foils an attempt by Chrysalis agents to steal the baby from Monro. Then Stark's wife, Eleanor, turns up at the Agency with a load of balloney about Chrysalis being run by enemies of the US, and she generally ran rings round everyone there. Mrs. Stark gets herself into a witness-protection programme and she persuaded Munro that the kid would be better off with her. Then the agents guarding her are killed and Mrs. Stark and the baby disappear. And it was all a plot by the Starks to get their kid back.

37. Immaterial Girl
When invisible, Darien Fawkes starts seeing a female shape made of light. He and Hobbes are investigating a water company for the Bureau of Weights and Measures. The Keeper thinks he's going out of his mind and he needs a shrink. The Official tells Darien to ignore the shape but he ignores the boss. The shape leads him to Megan, the daughter of a missing scientist. Her mom, Lucille, was done to death by her boss, Dr. Henrick. Lucille was working for a company funded by oil and gas interests, and she met her end in a particle accelerator after suggesting a source of endless clean energy. Darien pretends to be the ghost to trick a confession out of Dr. Henrick, who gets away. So Lucille traps Henrick in the accelerator, and he also goes up in smoke.

38. Father Figure
The NSA sets Darian and Psycho Bobby on the trail of Forrest Purdue, a sniper. The sniper can see Darien when he's invisible and Darien realized that he has been hunting his dad, who disappeared years before. Madeline, Darien's grandma, tells him his dad, Mason Fawkes, used to work for the CIA; until he found out that his handler, Malachi Royce, was ordered him to kill people whom Royce wanted dead. Grandma is taken hostage by Royce. Darien rescues her and offers to take his dad's place. The target is a senator who has been cutting intelligence agency budgets. A Quicksilvered Bobby Hobbes gets the deal on tape, which sinks Royce, and Darien's dad drops out of sight again.

39. A Sense of Community
The Agency has run out of cash again and The Official decides to hook up with the Agency of Sequestered Seclusion (ASS) as it has a huge budget. ASS's payroll consists of dead agents, and Darien and Bobby Hobbes end up 'in the Community' – a rip-off of The Prisoner's 'Village'. Meanwhile, the Agency is being repossessed, Eberts gets the job of finding Darien and Bobby as he's the sole remaining agent, and Darien finds that he needs a shot of counter-agent. Our heroes escape from the Community, virtually with one bound, and The Official blackmails ASS, offering silence in exchange for cash, not realizing that ASS has his office fully bugged.

40. The Three Phases of Claire
The Keeper has been working with Tommy Walker, alias Augustin Gaither (and Quark from Deep Space Nine), and The Official wants to sell off their research because The is strapped for cash again. A 'volunteer', sent by the CIA for a test of the drug, kidnaps the Keeper, who is injected with the drug. It makes her terminally gabby and she is soon heading for permanent psychosis. The kidnapper is killed by a KGB agent who had been 'dead' for the last 5 years. He shoots Darien Fawkes and Bobby Hobbes with tranquillizer darts and makes off with The Keeper, but he ends up dead for real, written off by a Quicksilver-mad Darien.

41. Exposed
The Keeper is trying to access Augustin Gaither's memories and the boss of the Special Weapons Research Bureau, Danny Goldring, wants him back. Goldring knows that Gaither is still alive because he is tapping into the ASS system which is bugging the Agency. A raid recover Gaither and all of The Keeper's research, and Gaither gets his memory back. He offers to make more invisibility glands for SWRB, even if Darien Fawkes is killed in the process, but he fools the SWRB, helps Darien to escape and then blows up the SWRB.

The Chinese say she was a saboteur and she promptly heads for a nuclear plant to get some uranium to fuel her gadget. Chen Po Li, another Chinese agent turns out to be the defector's boyfriend and Darien Fawkes and Bobby Hobbes help the pair of them to defect.

Darien Fawkes finds that he can't shake off his Quicksilver and become visible, so The Keeper shuts off his gland for a week while she does some tests. Darien goes AWOL, not knowing that he needs a shot to stop adrenaline building up and killing him! Then he takes part in a mission to recover stolen NASA materials, which are being used in the manufacture of designer drugs. Not being able to go invisible is a real handicap, and he comes unstuck. So Hobbes and Monro go in shooting and Hobbes is captured by the bad guys. But luckily, the gland starts working again and the bad guys are duly zapped.

44. Possessed
Darien Fawkes starts to go Quicksilver mad big time – he's becoming counter-agent resistant! The Keeper tests another brew on him and he goes mad when it wears off in an instant. He steals a watch from the corpse at a Mafia funeral (while invisible) and crashes a religious study class held by his old parish priest (Henry out of Hill Street Blues). He is also shedding a type of Quicksilver which doesn't disperse when he goes invisible. Hobbes goes violent and terrorizes The Official when he messes about with a sample of this Quicksilver. So does the priest. He and Darien give a violent father a bashing and The Keeper doesn't know what to do about the counteragent situation.

45. Enemy of My Enemy
Chrysalis has removed Arnaud's gland, cloned it and they're making Quicksilver in competition to Darien Fawkes. Chrysalis is holding Arnaud prisoner because they still needed blood samples from him, so he bamboozles Darien into helping him to escape, promising Darien gene therapy to do away with his dependence on counteragent to prevent Quicksilver madness. So Darien shoots him in the leg and takes him to the Agency. Chrysalis has genetically monstered its members so that the younger ones stop ageing at 25. Arnaud kills one of the guys at the Agency when he escapes with the aid of an exploding laptop. The Official blames the death on The Keeper and blackmails her into not giving Darien the gene therapy.

46. The New Stuff
Invisible Locusts Ate My Farm is the tabloid headline for the final episode of The Invisible Man. Darien Fawkes goes Quicksilver mad when exposed to some of the dead and visible locusts, so The Keeper gives him the gene therapy – against The Official's orders. So Darien jumps ship and joins the FBI because they offer him a security team and his own office. Meanwhile, Chrysalis are using the locusts to zap some genetically modified crops, which offer a cure for cancer and the Feds have never heard of Chrysalis. So Darien Fawkes teams up with his old pals at The Agency to zap the locusts, and he returns to the fold in the end – but on his terms.
And that's the end. No more episodes were made.
