TV Series Episode Guides

Moonlight

The series follows the adventures of Mick St. John, who looks about 30 but only because his bride, Coraline, 'turned' him on their wedding night 57 years before and made him a vampire. Mick has the self-appointed role of protector to Beth Turner, now a journalist, whom he rescued as a child from Coraline. Mick feels he shouldn't have feelings for a human but, in Beth's case, he can't help himself. He has a mentor, Josef, who is about 400 years old and filthy rich.
CBS gave this good quality series the stake through the heart after just 1 season.

Season 1 – 2007

01. No Such Thing As Vampires
Mick St. John is a private eye and a vampire, who can be killed by a flame-thrower or beheading, but who can tolerate sunlight, garlic and the usual stuff. He feeds by injecting blood supplied by his friendly pathologist. "If you live forever, the past always catches up with you," he says, and the events of the episode prove him right.
Beth Turner, a pushy newsgirl, gets on the story of an apparent vampire killing. Mick decides the corpse has no smell of vampire and those aren't bite marks on her neck. He meets Beth in the victim's apartment. The dead girl's professor runs a blood cult and he thinks he's a vampire.
22 years ago, Mick followed a lead to an abducted child and ran into the ex-wife, who had turned him into a vampire. She was burned to the ground with the house where she was keeping the child; Beth, of course. Mick saves Beth from the nutty professor and his homicidal disciple and we learn that he's been watching over her ever since she was abducted as a child.

02. Out of the Past
A killer was let out of gaol after 25 years and Beth's mate Julia wrote a book about Lee J. Spalding's wrongful conviction. Except, he killed his wife, whom Mick St. John was supposed to be protecting, and the cops turned up just as Mick was about to bite his neck. So Lee J. researched vampires in prison and he was fixing to do some huntin'. The book told Beth that Mick beat Lee J. half to death. He said it refers to his late father and it's a lie.
Mick lost the first round to Lee J., who paralyzed him with a stake and put his own head through a glass door. A retired cop friend of Mick's told Beth that the Mick St. John he knows is still alive and he didn't have a son. Lee J. burgled Mick's place, shot himself with Mick's gun and called the cops. Mick went to Beth to record a statement about Lee J., which went out on TV.
Lee J. kidnapped Julia and told Mick to surrender to the cops within an hour. Luckily, Josh, Beth's boyfriend, works at the DA's office and he was able to buy Mick some time. Mick freed Julia but Lee J. shot him with silver buckshot. Luckily, Beth didn't stay in the car and she shot Lee J. as he was about to incinerate Mick.
Mick staggered home and he was reviving himself with a transfusion pack of blood when Beth crashed in. So he had to admit that he's a vampire!

03. Dr. Feelgood
A hesitant Beth visited Mick to find out about vampires but he stalled her. A doctor ran down a vampire with his car, the vampire had a snack from his and carelessly turned the guy without realizing it. So the doctor went on a killing spree. Mick decided that the only way to find the rogue was to start with the sire who hadn't tutored him.
Memories of Mick, who's now 82, being turned by his vampire wife as a wedding night present. Mick went for help to the woman who cleans up after vampire kills. Beth helped Mick to identify the doctor but the sire staked him to stop Mick from killing the rogue.
Luckily, Beth was on hand to unstake Mick. The sire was collared by the clean-up lady and her team. Mick subdued then incinerated the rogue. His 400-year-old pal told him to stop carrying the weight of the past around with him so Mick told Beth how he became a vampire.

04. Fever
A billionaire arms dealer was on trial for murder and the secret witness in protective custody made a covert phone call and got her cops killed. Beth persuaded DA Josh to use Mick to find Leni as Josh was worried about a traitor in his office.
Mick spent a lot of time in the sun for a vampire on the way to learning that Leni was the dead guy's girlfriend. She decided not to testify as she was pregnant but that didn't stop a dirty cop from sending a helicopter gunship after Leni and Mick when they strolled off in his car.
Beth assumed that Mick had been incinerated in the car, but he and Leni found their way across the desert to a motel, where Mick put himself into a ice bath in an attempt to prevent himself from eating the witness. Beth gave him a life-preserving snack when she caught up with them. Josh set a trap for the traitor. The bad guy went to gaol. And Mick realized he'd have to stop seeing Beth.

05. Arrested Development
Beth's jealous boyfriend notices that Mick isn't around any more, but he and Beth get back together when an escort is murdered by a vampire. A couple hires Mick to find their missing daughter. Beth deserts a party to celebrate one year with Josh to visit the morgue, and meets Mick with his clients. They say the dead woman is their daughter's room mate.
Mick decides that finding the killer is a good way to find the missing girl. He and Beth do some burgling at the killer's home and end up in a police ambush. The profiler reckons the killer is 38-45. In fact, he's nearer 200 years old but he was turned as a spotty teenager.
Mick rescues the girl from the killer and keeps telling him it doesn't have to be like this. The 200-year-old kid has a big battle with him at a fairground at night, Mick gets the worst of it most of the time but the 'kid' loses in the end.

06. B.C.
Mick's vampire pal Joseph wanted him to find his girlfriend Lola, who'd strolled off with $1M of his money and bought enough silver to paralyze every vampire in L.A. Ruth, the crime reporter, had to cover a fashion photographer, so his model dropped dead. DA Josh told Beth it was the 3rd death from a new drug.
Mick found the bodies of vampires, who've been drained of blood to make Lola's drug, which can't be detected by the crime lab. The model had a microchip in her hand to get her into the VIP area of Lola's club and she died of silver poisoning. Beth swiped the chip from the morgue and got Mick to inject it into her, which didn't fool anyone.
Beth tried the drug. Josh got the location of Lola's warehouse but Mick got there first, thanks to Beth, and found a roomful of vampires being harvested. He blew the place up with Lola inside. Joseph reckoned she was 500 years old, which was why she no longer had any inhibitions about preying on her own kind.

07. The Ringer
Mick & Beth met at night at the scene of a hotel fire. Mick saw a photographer who was a dead ringer for Coraline, the vampire wife who turned him, who's supposed to have died in a fire when Mick rescued Beth from her. Morgan wasn't a vampire, which meant that if she was Coraline, then Coraline had become human again, which is impossible, as Joseph kept telling Mick.
Morgan hired Mick to recover some cameras stolen by a burglar. The pictures she'd retrieved from them showed a guy in the fire killing a woman with a tattoo just like Coraline's. Mick found a woman's body in the wreck of the hotel and a dead man's fingerprints at Morgan's apartment. Mick & Joseph burgled the burglar to recover the cameras and Joseph confirmed to Mick that Morgan wasn't a vampire.
Mick went to the cemetery with Morgan to find out if the burglar had faked his own death. Morgan saw him go into vampire mode during a fight with the burglar. Mick chased her and had a look at her shoulder, where there was no tattoo. But while he was trying to convince himself that Coraline hadn't come back to haunt him in human form, Morgan was wiping the body paint off her tattoo . . .

08. 12:04 AM
A Manson-type killer croaks, defiant, with a girl who survived his attack on her parents, and Beth, looking on. Beth is with her when Audrey gets a phone call from the dead killer. Beth tells her about her own kidnapping by a killer and the rescue by her guardian angel.
Beth brings in Mick and he appears at her place when one of Shepherd's 'family' breaks in and attacks Audrey. Mick goes after Jerry Drake, a producer who's going to film Shepherd's story, and lifts a mailing from the killer. The DA disappears and there's a website naming him and everyone associated with Shepherd's trial.
Mick concludes that Shepherd is a vampire and he finds the DA in Shepherd's drawer in the morgue. The prison priest turned him for the $800,000 which Drake paid for his memoirs. Shepherd offs Drake. Beth burgles Mick's files; she and Audrey are parked at his place; and finds pictures of her through her life and realizes that Mick is her guardian angel.
Mick loses his phone in a battle with Shepherd, which tells Shepherd where he lives, but gets home in time to kill Shepherd. Then, when the next dawn arrives, Beth gets inappropriate with her guardian angel but Mick still has reservations.

09. Fleur de Lis
The episode starts with Beth telling Mick that Morgan is Coraline and stabbing her. 24 hours earlier: Beth was stalking Morgan to find out if she was Coraline. Mick recruited Morgan as his photographer when checking up on Tina, a trophy wife. He was worried that the husband was planning to kill Tina to spare himself the embarrassment of a divorce.
Beth delved into Coraline's 300 year history, burgled Morgan's place and found photos of Mick from 1952. Mick found that Tina's boyfriend was his client's son! His office was burgled and the surveillance material was taken; he though, by the client but it was really the son. Joseph told Beth that Morgan is human and there's no cure for vampirism.
A cleaned up audio tape told Morgan that Tina & her boyfriend were planning to kill Mick's client. Beth found the place where Coraline held her prisoner. Mick saved the client and showed Morgan his vampire super powers. He and Morgan got pally, Beth arrived in a rage and stabbed Morgan and Mick said they needed to get Morgan to hospital. She's not a vampire; she has the cure!

10. Sleeping Beauty
Mick told Coraline's doctor that he didn't know how she got her deeply infected wound, and her temperature went down even though she should have had a fever. In New York, a dying old man set a killer after Joseph, who had to be done in with fire. The hit-tman fire-bombed Joseph's office with military grade weapons, which killed 2 vampire pals at his poker night. Beth's boss put her on the story.
Mick visited Coraline in hospital and took a sample of her blood, but he didn't find out how she'd become human again. One minute, Mick was telling Beth he didn't know how to mourn Joseph; the next, he found Joseph lurking in his apartment. Joseph's janitor had tried to kill him. The guy turned out to be Ralph, an ex-Special Forces mercenary.
Joseph couldn't resist going back to his office to rescue a necklace from his fireproof safe. The building's security guy ratted him out to Ralph but Mick turned up and Ralph was busted. In hospital, Coraline turned back into a vampire. Ralph was working for the ancient John Whitley of New York, who knew what Joseph is and wanted to kill Joseph for killing his daughter before he croaked.
Mick and Beth found Sarah still young and beautiful but in a coma at Joseph's apartment in New York. She'd begged him to turn her in 1955 but something had gone wrong. Ralph showed up again, having killed 2 cops in L.A. to escape, but Mick neutralized him. After seeing what happened to Sarah, Beth decided to go back to L.A. and her human cop, Josh. At the end, Coraline decamped from the hospital.

11. Love Lasts Forever
DA Josh failed to persuade drug baron Tahada to wear a wire and he had a history of killing prosecutors' relatives. His gang gave Josh a photo of Beth, who knew someone who could check Mick's sample of Coraline's blood. Beth talked Josh out of stepping off the case and got Mick and some cops as bodyguards.
Tahada was busted at his daughter's Sweet 16 party but he was soon out on $5 million bail. Coraline's blood sample contained nothing that wasn't supposed to be there; it was so pure, it could have been a child's. She's also blood group AO negative, the same as Beth; which could be the reason why she kidnapped Beth.
Mick saved Beth from a sniper. Josh was kidnapped, Mick & Beth followed the bad guys' car and Josh was shot. Mick did a M*A*S*H routine, Beth wanted him to turn Josh, Mick refused and Josh croaked. The cops let Mick terrify information out of one of the kidnappers, then he crashed a party at a club and had a drink on Tahada.
Beth didn't want to know Mick any more but he reminded her that Josh was killed by his job, not Mick St. John.

12. The Mortal Cure
Beth was still upset with Mick for not turning dead Josh, then she decided he'd been having an affair; but Josh had only been seeing a lady jeweller about an engagement ring for Beth. Mick found 2 vamps lurking at his office. They wanted to find Coraline as she had something of theirs. Joseph told Mick to steer clear of Lance, who lived under his own rules and wasn't a guy to mess with.
Mick set another vampire looking for Cynthia, who'd helped to smuggle Coraline out of the hospital. She told him nothing but lies. Coraline, who was a vampire again, had a chemist working on a drug she'd stolen from Lance. Lance showed up at the lab and killed the chemist and Coraline escaped while Mick was getting his ass kicked.
Beth called on Mick after sorting out the 'affair' but Coraline arrived. She told Mick the cure is temporary and it was developed by a noble bloodline in the 17th century. Louis XVI was a vampire! And the Terror during the French Revolution had been a purge of vampires! The cure masked vampirism and let those who took it appear human when tested.
Coraline gave Mick some of the cure then he learnt that she, like Lance, was one of 7 siblings of the French noble bloodline. Lance arrived and half-killed almost human Mick, but Coraline saved him by surrendering to her brother. Mick found that being human is very painful. He took a sample of his blood then pigged out on food. When he went to Josh's funeral the next day, he told Beth that being human again was amazing.

13. Fated to Pretend
Mick was really enjoying being human. Then Maureen, Beth's boss, was killed to stop her publishing a story. But which one? Stroppy Ben from the DA's office warned Mick & Beth off. A vampire morgue attendant decided Maureen had been around a vampire when she was shot. The geek vampire Logan cracked Maureen's password, with Mick's help, and they had 3 suspects.
Joseph was eliminated quickly. Next were Mr. Morrow, a candidate for mayor whose wife had died in an accident 3 years before, and a dodgy cosmetic surgeon. Mick had to run down a fugitive witness and learnt that Morrow had been driving the death car while drunk. His daughter had been in the car and she'd shopped dad to Maureen. Mick had to stop her jumping off the campaign HQ building.
The surgeon was a vampire! Who was into exotic blood types, like Beth's. She was kidnapped, Joseph proved to Mick that he was no longer a match for a vampire in a fight so Mick forced Joseph to turn him again to save Beth. At the end, Mick and Beth had to come to terms with their new-old relationship.

14. Click
Mick has upped his profile by becoming a Hollywood starlet's body guard. Tierney is beset by paparazzi as she's in a 'cursed' film. Beth's new boss at BuzzWire adopts an 'anything goes' policy and tells Beth to get something hot on the starlet, who goes overboard from the liner being used in the film, so Beth gets her scoop.
Mick tells the twat from the DA's office that it was murder. Dean, a stalking photographer, has some suspicious pictures and Mick runs into 2 teenage vampire paparazzi. Dean was blackmailing Tierney and he tries to blackmail Beth with pictures of Mick being run down by a car and suffering no ill effects.
The film's producer has spent all the money from the investors so he sabotaged the 'cursed' film for the insurance money by killing the starlet, so he's busted. Beth tells Joseph about Dean after Mick says he'll have to relocate if he's exposed. Dean is eaten by the teenage vampires but the DA gets copies of his pix of Mick.

15. What's Left Behind
A kid was kidnapped and the DA recruited unemployed Beth as a helper as she'd researched 2 earlier cases. Mick got involved when he realized the house was where his old army buddy Ray had lived.
Ray had saved Mick's life in Italy, Mick had had an affair with Ray's wife believing Ray to be dead. Only Ray had returned and his wife had given birth to Robert 7 months later. Premature or Mick's kid? And was the kidnapped kid Mick's grandson?
Mick eliminated vampire involvement and found that the perpetrator had built a secret passage during modifications to the house. The DA offered Beth a job as a civilian investigator. Mick found some old DNA from his pre-vampire days for testing. The kidnapper phoned Mick and threatened Beth, but Mick scared him off and worked out where the guy was hiding.
The police invaded the above-ground part of the guy's house while Mick stalked him in cellars and frightened the kidnapper to death. Then he performed a spot of demolition to rescue Jacob, who'd been walled up. Robert wasn't the kid's father and he was amazed when the kid pointed Mick out in an old photograph from the 1940s.

16. Sonata
Joseph was playing the big wheel at the opening of a new stadium when Dominic, a star athlete was found dead with Simone, Joseph's lawyer hovering nearby. She said she was just getting cleaned up after giving Joseph a snack. Beth met Emma & Jackson, a vampire couple who had been together for 150 years.
Joseph wanted Mick to clear Simone to stop the police digging near him. Beth walked in on Mick checking Simone's blood group vampire-style and got bent out of shape. Hank, a jealous team mate, was busted but told the police he saw a woman kill Dominic; Emma, his manager.
Emma had been having an affair with Dominic, not Simone, and things had got too rough. She was busted and threatened to expose every vampire in L.A., so Mick had to organize an ambush of a prison van. The team had to go with Plan B, Emma was condemned to death by a vampire kangaroo court and Jackson opted to be incinerated with her.
At the end, someone sent the DA a list of names with some crossed out and Mick's at the end of it. Beth tried to dump Mick but Mick refused to let it happen. End of Season 1 and also end of series.
