Ode To A Bombing Aeroplane

O aeroplane, flying away up in the sky,
What a pity you drop all those bombs from on high!
How much better if you were employed for peaceful means,
Such as flying across the Atlantic with cargoes of baked beans;
Or else giving the working classes a trip to the Soviet states,
So that they could all see the Red Square and the Kremlin Gates.
This would broaden the minds of the masses, so I think it a very good plan;
And no doubt it would lead eventually to the Universal Brotherhood of Man.

ca 1939, after Wm. Topaz McGonagall
